Rhum Kon
After the queen's death, the noble Rhumke was neatly removed from governing the state. Of course, his position and status remained intact. A week of melancholy gave way to a return to active participation in social life: banquets, balls, celebrations for various occasions, daily receptions of hundreds of guests... The life of an aristocrat is pleasant but somewhat tiring. It would seem that power over numerous servants should be enough for complete self-satisfaction, but no. The desire to return to the highest circles of the kingdom and influence the country's politics prompted Rhumke to make a deal with Mr. Minato. It must be said that Mr. Minato made a rather unremarkable impression. You could walk past him on the street and not notice him at all. So, Mr. Minato offered his services as a specialist of high class. As proof of his abilities, he delivered an Assyrian to Rhumke's mansion basement. To Rhumke's surprised exclamation, the only response was - I am from the Ito clan, at your service.
The Assyrian was placed in the basement as another entertainment for frequent guests, and Rhumke expressed his wishes more specifically. Lady Avyual was a staunch supporter of the current king. As Rhumke knew, based on numerous rumors, Avyual had feelings for Ulu-Sha, who once came from humble origins but now holds a high position, hailing from the overseas colony. Thus, Mikoto's task was to ensure that Ulu-Sha broke off relations with Lady Avyual – by any means. Rhumke planned to take the vacant place and return to the higher echelons.
Never trust ninjas. Or at least don't fully believe them. The corpse of Mr. Ulu-Sha was found in the courtyard of Rhumke's mansion, which everyone learned about, including Avyual. The plan failed, and society turned against Rhumke. Rumors about his relationship with Ulu-Sha also circulated. And although there was no other evidence, fewer and fewer guests began attending receptions, mostly those looking for free drinks. And Rhumke himself stopped receiving invitations.
The noble Don was not one of those people who would accept defeat. Since there was no chance of success in his homeland, he needed only to change his geographical location, fortunately, he had the opportunity.
Some connections remained; Rhumke managed to arrange a meeting with representatives of a new state. He declared that he accepted the teachings of Elulu-Suen along with all the servants and peasants under his control, including the overseas colony. The Don has a gift for speech, but the lords were adamant. The highest caste is made up of warriors, and Rhumke received a role only slightly above that of a slave. This position did not suit the gentleman at all, but new details about Ulu-Sha's death emerged... Rhumke hastened his departure.
That the noble Don could not become a warrior, the burly man hired for 5 gold coins said immediately. At first, Rhumke thought that the lazy fellow just wanted to take the money and do nothing, but subsequent events proved the truth of the pumped-up brute.
There were only two options left: either change countries again or try his luck studying magic. Rhumke chose the latter, and since he was completely unaccustomed to being addressed as "get out of the way" and "weakling," he went not to Ethan, but to Elutan.
The master of magic, Azuki, outwardly resembled Minato very much. But the conversation showed that Azuki belonged to a completely different clan and also disliked ninjas. For only 50 gold, Azuki recognized outstanding magical abilities in Rhumke and promised to teach him everything he knew.
- You need to feel the energy inside yourself - began the next lesson - imagine a powerful stream. Then concentrate on the target, gather your strength, and release the power from within. Like this. Azuki waved his hand, and a powerful stream shot out of his palm, knocking over a pre-prepared woven shield.
- Now you try.
- I felt it, imagined it, concentrated... Waved my hand – and nothing happened.
- One more time
- Dear Azuki, should the stream come out of my right hand?
- Not always. For example, my teacher Oma released his first stream from his mouth. But in battle, it is more convenient to cast from the hand, of course. Try again.
- I felt it, imagined it, concentrated... I understand!
Rhumke loosened his belt and lowered his silk trousers. The stream was even stronger than Azuki's; it knocked down both the shield and the tree it was leaning against.
- Wonderful. Now try casting with your hand. Otherwise, you will have to wear a kimono or a special robe in battle.
The training lasted for five years. Although Rhumke spent most of his fortune, he now perfectly mastered everything that Azuki knew. His natural agility allowed him to surpass his teacher in the speed of using magic.
Rhumke took a new name: Rhum Kon. To gain power in Teios, skills alone are not enough; great deeds are also needed. Rhum Kon intended to accomplish at least ten such deeds.
