Favorites, to battle! - 8

For the eighth time, we will compete for our favorite castle, prove its strength, delight viewers with interesting games and unconventional combinations. In this tournament, each player immediately chooses a faction that they will play throughout the tournament.
The first such tournament took place in 2008.
Conflux and Necropolis have twice celebrated victory; once, Fortress, Castle, and Rampart were the best.
What will happen now?

I. General questions.
1. Throughout the tournament, each participant plays as their chosen favorite faction.
2. Game version SoD 3.2 (4.0) + HD mod + HW_rules_mod patch. The latest stable version is currently available: as of early December 2015, HD mod 4.0 RC33, HW_rules_mod 1.38.
3. Color in bracket tables – for the initial seeding. Colors change after each SUBJECTIVE restart.
4. The choice of template is made by crossing out one from the list of 9 templates: 2SM4d(3), Balance, skirmish (at 200% difficulty), Jebus cross, Mini-Nostalgia, Diamond, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, and Spider. The player marked with blue in the table starts eliminating a template.
By mutual agreement, it is permissible to play on any other template. This issue must be discussed beforehand with the tournament judges.
5. If there are two identical factions in a match, then the template is chosen from the list: 2SM4d(3), Balance, skirmish (at 200% difficulty), Jebus cross, Mini-Nostalgia, Diamond, 8mm6a, 6LM10a, Spider, mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1.
In this case, players bargain for the right to choose the starting hero. Players take turns (first, the one marked red in the table, then - blue) crossing out one undesirable hero from the full list; then, the players inform each other how much gold they are willing to transfer to their opponent for the right to make the first choice among the remaining heroes. The player who offers the larger amount chooses the hero first and transfers the gold to his opponent.
On the mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1 templates, each player has one subjective restart at 111.
Also, on the mir_diamond and mir_h3dm1 templates, players negotiate over color. The player who offers the larger amount chooses which color he will play as and transfers the gold to his opponent.
6. Standard rules apply.
The default timer is chess clock style, with parameters specified in the rules.
Any changes to the game rules are allowed by mutual agreement of the players, except for changing the Favorite Castle and the Fair Play rule.
Additional rules for templates:
Mini-Nostalgia. The participant marked with blue in the table begins choosing computer opponents' castles. When the color changes, the selection is not repeated; the castles chosen by the player remain his secondary choices.
Diamond. The participant marked red in the table removes an extra (ninth) castle. If the favorite castles are identical, then red first removes one castle, then blue - a second.

II. Organizational questions.
1. This tournament is official and regular.
2. Tournament goals:
- to play as your favorite faction and try to prove its strength,
- to gain valuable experience and improve your gameplay.
3. The tournament is held according to the Rules for organizing, conducting, and participating in tournaments.
4. Players listed on the Blacklist and Penalty Bench are not allowed to participate in the tournament.
5. Tournament hosts and judges: Pit for LM (ICQ: 471401475) and
KobRa_RR (ICQ: 286406830).
If it is impossible to resolve a controversial issue independently, the judges will seek help from the AC.
The host has the right to make any changes to the regulations and rules during the tournament if necessary.
6. For each played match, participants must submit a report and confirmation in this thread, created automatically.
Saves of all matches must be saved until the end of the tournament and presented upon first request by the tournament host or any member of the AC.
7. Information about the progress of the tournament is updated as needed and is located at the beginning of this thread.
8. All games of the tournament go into the seasonal rating. The list of tournament reports is also located at the beginning of this thread.
9. The winner of the tournament and players who took 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded Medals under their avatar:

Award authors: RAPER and ColdRain.

III. Deadlines.
All participants in the tournament must strictly adhere to the announced deadlines:
1. Immediately after the start of the next stage or round, contact your opponents for preliminary arrangements for the games. Agreeing means reaching an agreement after negotiations and discussion. An offer without a response will not be considered an agreement.
2. Any temporary problems (with internet access, travel plans, personal matters) must be reported to the tournament hosts.
3. The preferred time for tournament games is daytime (12-24 Moscow time) on weekends and evening (19-24 Moscow time) on weekdays. If a participant cannot play at this time, the absence of a game result will be interpreted by the host in favor of his opponent.

Registration - October 25 – November 24, 2015.
Approval of the list of participants - November 25-29, 2015.
Bracket generation - November 30, 2015. The bracket will be generated taking into account the declared faction and the player's skill level based on the results of other tournaments.
Start of the tournament - December 1, 2015.

IV. Regulations.
The regulations will be determined after the end of registration, depending on the number of participants.
A standard format is planned: group stage and Full Double Elimination.

Nobody took any restarts.
Day 1, turn 1: I break into the Gunnar prison, ~150 Troglodytes! I reveal a minimal Griffin Conservatory off the road, send the miner there.
Day 1, turn 2: Angel on the fool along the road, past the Teleport and the Hive for ~50 crush.
Day 1, turn 3: The fool breaks the prison with Jaelar [Water Expert], has a Bless scroll.
Day 1, turn 4: Jaelar with Bless takes an external Creature Dwelling for 40+ growth of Dendroid Soldiers, a Dragon from the Portal, the miner beats a Pit Fiend stack, a [Dragon] Fly Hive is guarded, another Griffin Conservatory is revealed above the road.
Day 1, turn 5: We dive into the Teleport, the fool reaches the Castle, and the miner takes an external Angel dwelling and a chest for ~50 Basilisks with Haste on 25 Pit Fiend stacks, another Griffin Conservatory is revealed, Jaelar reaches the Castle village via the lift and reveals yet another Griffin Conservatory.
Day 1, turn 6: The Pit Fiends are already upgraded, the miner takes +2 Angels underground.
Day 1, turn 7: Jaelar takes a max Dwarf Cottage, [gets] Earth Expert for him.
Week 2: Griffin Conservatories above ground, I buy more, eat the [Dragon] Fly Hive and dive into a one-way portal: the miner with the entire army, Gunnar on 1 Angel scouts the opponent's Dungeon, and... is 1 tile short of reaching an empty Castle and didn't kill a Lorka with army on the way! I thought I blocked her path, but she went around from above and sat down after buying more. :( Gunnar had to morale-bless, killing 15 Evil Eyes, 4 Medusas, 14 Harpies and lots of Troglodytes under Lora  By the time I killed the Eyes and the Medusas ran out of ammo, the Angel was left with a sliver of health, I had to finish off 3 stacks with Wait while they gnawed on the catapult, which had ~100 HP left in the end -- luck with Morale boosts constantly worked against it.)))) The miner takes a couple of [Dragon] Fly Hives, goes to the center and reveals a Dragon Utopia, I go in on day 1, turn 6 -- without any stat artifacts at all, with base stats of 10-9 -- [it's] a two, I lose all the Harpies (45 from the chest) and almost all Troglodytes, get [Cape of] Velocity and Boots of Speed for Resist.
The miner has Expert Air, splits up into the opponent's Dungeon, and heads to the Stables, target -- the Dragon Utopia beyond the mountains in the swamp.
Week 3 -- via the most twisted chain, using Fly and dismissing a bunch of heroes, I bring the army to the miner, including all growth! It came in handy -- the Dragon Utopia was maxed, same stats as before :( They immediately killed the Archangel, nearly gnawed through the Troglodytes and also got the Angel, but didn't touch the Pit Fiends and Beholders.
Finally get stat items, but nothing combat-related -- Dragon Scale Shield and Titan's Cuirass, but also [Helm of] Heavenly Enlightenment and [Lion's Crown of] Knighthood alongside them! The miner farms the swamp, trying to level up Earth Magic, which came in as the last 8th slot, takes an external Fairy dwelling (!!!) at the end of day 3, turn 2 Earth is Advanced, we Town Portal home, Jaelar and Gunnar are on standby there, both have Expert Earth.
We burn the timer, clearing the vicinities of the towns, of which there are 8, on day 3, turn 3 the doubled miner pays a courtesy visit to the opponent, we take the villages closest to the red borders, then we buy back Gunnar, but he, after destroying a cart with Pit Lords, in an attempt to then reach Marusya, didn't break the red chain  and again dumb.... mmm... Gunnar makes the same mistake -- thinks he blocked the road, but Marusya slips through a Dragon Utopia captured on the previous turn, takes out the army and goes somewhere to fight.
On the next turn I leave the opponent with only one town -- the former computer's Inferno, but that's exactly where Marusya was replenishing mana, already with Town Portal.
However, catching her with full control was a matter of a couple of days, the opponent understands this and capitulates on day 3, turn 7.

GG, thanks for the game

In the first week, I have cavalry in the Citadel, there are two Griffin Conservatories, but they are large. Sorcha is leveling up so-so, not much meat, and going into the Griffin Conservatories in week 2 is risky... I decide to check the available directions for now, killed a Tower neutral and checked the center, where I luckily found a Thieves' Guild - Shakti's strongest unit is the Manticore, meaning my cavalry and the Angel from the single Griffin Conservatory are worth a bit :) I decide to make contact to scoop up the goodies in the center. The opponent avoided the fight, giving me the former Citadel of the neutral and a Conflux town. After picking up +3 Angels at home, Sorcha moves to thoroughly eat the center, which also has birds and gold for Angel construction. In Tower I installed GM4 - Town Portal and Slaer, urgently leveling up Aina with Earth magic for re-teaching. There's another Griffin Conservatory in the center, and with 8 Angels Sorcha takes a low-level Dragon Utopia, got junk. Aina with a Cuirass and 2 Angels + leftovers bolt-rolled a low-level Griffin Conservatory on the respawn, only the Angels survived :) Sorcha finds a few more Dragon Utopias, from the 3rd or 4th she gets Control. I buy Air magic in Conflux and move to another Dragon Utopia nearby, but then Shakti takes back the barbarian castle. I assessed the resources, stats, and attacked with a Red Sphere and Archangels + Shackles. The Archangels pulled through, thanks for the game.

On the first week, horses in the Citadel, there are two Griffin Conservatories, but large ones. Sorcha levels up so-so, not much meat, entering the Conservatories on week 2 is sketchy... I decide to check available directions for now, killed the AI's Tower and checked the center, where I luckily found a Thieves' Guild - Shakti's strongest unit is the Manticore, so my horses and the angel from the single Conservatory are worth a bit :) I decide to make contact to grab the goodies in the center. The opponent avoided the fight, giving me the former AI's Citadel and a Conflux village. After picking up +3 angels at home, Sorcha moves to eat up the center thoroughly, there are also birds and gold for building angels there. In Tower, I built Mage Guild 4 - Town Portal and Slayer, urgently leveling Aina with Earth for re-learning. Another Conservatory in the center, and with 8 angels Sorcha takes a tier-3 Dragon Utopia, got junk. Aina with a Cuirass and 2 angels + overeating bolt the tier-3 Conservatory on respawn, only the angels survived :) Sorcha finds a few more Dragon Utopias, from the 3rd or 4th one gets Control. I buy Air in Conflux and move to another Dragon Utopia nearby, but then Shakti takes back the Barbarian Castle. I estimated the treasury, stats, and attacked with the Red Ball and Archangels + Shackles. The Archangels pulled it off, thanks for the game.

Sat through the whole game without money; on the second one, I lost almost all Troglodytes for a box against Bone Dragons with Giant Spiders (10k experience), so no choice but to give away my AI. Split my way home, went looking for luck in the central treasures. Found 14 angels, 36 ducks but not a single Dragon Utopia or relic. Out of desperation, I started building the Guild, thankfully had a scroll for Armageddon. Positioned myself at the Barbarian Castle and built Mage Guild 5, emptying my treasury - it unexpectedly had Dimension Door, but no opportunity to use it presented itself - the Red Ball, Shackles, and Archangels are not countered with a more or less equal army.

My opponent gave up the double, and I had two restarts left, but because of Craig and two hidden swords, I decided to play it safe. The Angels didn't appear, so in the end, I had horses and monks in the Fortress. In the second round, I took the mini-consul, went into the Nagashnik, and he had a max:eek: - out of fear, I took it with the loss of a couple of cruisers and a food boost. I took the brown, purple, and pink (the last castle), while my opponent killed the blue and orange, and only the green Dungeon survived until the end of the game.
I took 132 with a max-consul, and the first Utopia was on 134. I got wings and a hat, then went to the GM with a library and immediately got teleported. The game dragged on a bit due to the lack of air and scouting, but as soon as Theodore leveled up his air, he went on the attack and killed Shakti in the castle on turn 217. Thanks for the game.

Troops were distributed well, with excellent heroes: Gunnar, Tazar, Luna, Monere - take your pick. Artifacts - morale cancelers. The road immediately split into 2 directions, but one of them was blocked by the guard of an external dwelling of phoenixes. In the other direction, I saw a stable right by the road. Monere immediately got Earth magic - decided to level him. Further scouting revealed 2 more external dwellings of phoenixes, 3 beehives, 1 Griffin Conservatory, and Boots of Speed near the Conservatory. Luna leveled up well thanks to external stat boosts and a couple of experience stones. Lucky with a refugee camp - gave a red dragon. Luna burned through the guard of the external dwelling of phoenixes, but found nothing in that direction. Then, like a noob, I fed Luna to demons - I thought I had passed on the morale artifact, but it remained on the horse. In the end, the horned one pierced a fairy on morale. As the post-mortem revealed, Luna immediately betrayed me and went over to the opponent. Checked the Conservatory - it was tier 1. Decided to take it using Dendroid Soldiers with meat shields, ended up with 1 Dendroid Soldier and fairies on the horse. On week 1, day 1, 7, I hired the birds, barely took the first external dwelling of birds, crawled out of there with 1 bird, then it got easier - I took 2 beehives, then via a chain 2 more external dwellings of phoenixes. In the end, I managed to take all the objects and even buy out all the birds. In all breakthroughs I lost 3 birds, 6 Wyverns and had an army of 5 birds, 14 Wyverns on week 1, day 1, 7. By week 1, day 2, 2, I exchanged everything I could at the external marketplace, where I gathered as much money as possible - managed to buy out all the birds and a few tier 1 units, transferred everything to Monere, who was positioned for initiative near the GO on Boots of Speed with expert Earth magic and Oil. GO - Rust Dragons - they whittled down a few Wyverns and 1 bird. Right after the GO there was a village, apparently a slight generation bug, which worked in my favor thanks to scouting. However, there was no money for heroes. On week 1, day 2, 3, I took the central Castle, stayed there for initiative, scouting showed artifacts for stats with easy guards and beehives in another direction. On week 1, day 2, 4, the opponent entered the center with Fly and took my village. The opponent's army was minimal. I managed to reach him with Monere. The opponent surrendered.
Thanks for the game.

We started after my restart on the blockade. On 111, a poor central respawn spawned; the opponent revealed Gunnar, but from the start with heroes they gave 6 elves, and their external dwelling under the Castle was discovered. Had to play, although I scattered to only 4 heroes…
On 112, I barely level all elves, and with 20 I break through to a secondary on grass. It turns out to be a Castle, which I capture on 113, with a Stable nearby. I turn the other way toward a swamp. On 114, I capture that town too. All respawns seem small and not particularly rich. Near the swamp, 2 Dwarf dwellings spawned, which I took on 115-116. The first – at 20, the second – at 15. That allowed me to build up properly to Unicorns in the Stronghold, and on 117 I took a Medusa dwelling at 6 and two Crypts at 2500 and 5000 via chain, which gave money for buying. Kyr’ spent the night in the Stable. I also broke through to the treasure zone on lava, but I was met with emptiness.
On 121, I fight 70+ Basilisks for a box. They give 10k experience, leveled up nicely. Added Armor and Attack to Expert Earth, took Wisdom just in case. I busted home, bought a spell book there and got Mass Slow.
On 122, I almost lost to 70+ Fire Elementals with a weak hero for a +6 Sword; after taking it, I rushed off-road toward the Griffin Conservatory on the opponent’s secondary respawn. They gave 2 Angels. There’s an Observatory nearby.
On 123, I enter the Observatory and see the Blue player’s native secondary relatively close. I decide to rush. I sit in town; they have a Mage Guild with Shield, not bad. I send a scout – I see Gunnar relatively close. There’s a horde of Archers and Pikemen, 5 Cavaliers, and a few Swordsmen. On his turn, the opponent takes the Griffin Conservatory and jumps into a portal next to it into the treasure zone. His stats are small compared to mine, so I decide to pursue. The Angel’s speed boost lets me catch up easily; I also brought 20 Grand Dwarves and 7 Dendroids; along the way I killed a Scorpicore in the treasure zone, leveled up Armor, took an Artifact +1 to All, and then attacked. Gunnar gained 3 more Angels, but I have the first turn; I immediately cast Slow. He only has 5 mana, so due to Pegasi, there’s no magic. The fight was easily won by my 38 elves with a screen and a strong stat advantage.
Thank you for the game!

The opponent used up all their restarts, while I only used one:) And that decided the outcome of the game:o
In the first week, I took a Castle conflux, and also built a Stable in the Citadel. At the start of the second week, I began taking a Dwarf Cottage from the Stable at my respawn, then planned to take a level-two Griffin Conservatory also at my respawn. But then came the news of my opponent's surrender:o Things went completely south there. GG! Thanks for the game!

Not a bad layout. Tazar gets the log on 111, and boots and gloves are cleared on 112. By 113, there are 18 ducks and a few more hives and 2 cons. I collect everything and fly to the center on 117 with a momentum of 3500 mp, 44 monarchs, 4 angels, stats 10 16. I clear the entire center and home Dragon Utopia areas and on 125 I kill the opponent deep in his respawn. Thanks for the game!

I started playing because of the КВ, which was spotted on 111 for 20-49 trolls. The beginning turned out to be quite difficult; there were few creature banks and those that existed had brutal guards. However, I managed to set up the economy reasonably well by placing mills in 5 villages and building 12346 in the castle, while on 121 I bought almost everything and took the first clue for 40 diamonds. After that, I took 2 cons for 3 angels. Then I broke through the block into the underground treasure zone, and there was plenty to explore—hives, Dragon Utopia, boxes. I collected all this during the second week and the start of the 3rd. I also captured a green dragon external dwelling on the second week and teleported in 2 dungeon villages. Meanwhile, Kreg was leveling up, who eventually went to crush the reds on 133, but fell short of the power in the village by a couple of moves. On his turn, Kirry tries to buy him off from Kreg, gets -17 ducks and surrenders. Thanks for the game!

Moner immediately gained Earth Magic – I decided to level him up. Further scouting revealed two more Phoenix Nests, three Beehives, one Cottage, and Boots near the Cottage. Luna leveled up well thanks to external enhancements and a couple of experience stones. I got lucky with the Refuge – they gave me a Red Dragon. Luna cleared the guards of the Phoenix Nest, but I didn't find anything in that direction. Then, I gave Luna to the Demons – I thought I had transferred the morale artifact, but it remained on the Castle. As a result, the horned creature pierced the Fake on the morale. As the investigation showed, Luna immediately betrayed me and went to the opponent. I checked the Cottage – it was a level 1 unit. I decided to take it using cooldowns with meat, and in the end, I had 1 cooldown and Fakes on the Castle. On day 117, I placed Birds, and with great difficulty, I managed to take the first Bird Nest, emerging from there with 1 Bird. After that, it became easier – I took 2 Beehives, and then two more Phoenix Nests along the chain. In the end, I managed to take all the objects and buy back all the Birds. I lost 3 Birds and 6 Vivs in all the battles, and I had an army of 5 Birds and 14 Vivs on day 117. On day 122, I exchanged everything I could in the external market, where I managed to gather some money – I bought back all the Birds and a few level 1 units, and I transferred everything to Moner, who was leveling up near the Garrison on the Boots with Earth Magic and Oil. The Garrison contained Rust Dragons – they weakened some Vivs and 1 Bird. Immediately after the Garrison, there was a Village, probably a small generation bug, which played to my advantage thanks to scouting. However, I didn't have enough money for the heroes. On day 123, I took the central Castle and stayed there to level up. Scouting showed that in the other direction, there were artifacts for stats with pleasant guards and Beehives. On day 124, the opponent came to the center with Flight and took my Village. The opponent's army was minimal. I managed to reach him with Moner. The opponent surrendered.

Started playing because of the КВ, spotted on 111 for 20-49 trolls. The beginning turned out to be quite tough; there were few creature banks and those were behind fierce guards. But I managed to set up the economy reasonably well by placing thousands in 5 villages and building up 12346 in the castle, while on 121 I bought almost everything and took the first clue for 40 diamonds. Then I took 2 consas for 3 angels. Next, I broke through the block into the underground treasure zone and there was plenty of room to maneuver—hives, Dragon Utopias, boxes. I collected all this during the second and start of the 3rd week. Also captured a green dragon external dwelling on the second week and portaled in 2 dungeon villages. Parallelly, Kreg was leveling up, who eventually went to crush the reds on 133, but didn't reach the power in the village by a couple of moves. On his turn, Kirry tries to buy off Kreg, gets -17 ducks and surrenders. Thanks for the game!
A promising start, 2 native heroes in the tavern, consa 1ka on 115. On 116, due to elf morale over clues, this same feathered one went to heaven, but by 117 took 2 clues for 16 vives, a giant external dwelling and their portal. And then the problems started. In 5 gms, 16 scrolls, and 7 shrines, I still didn't find slow. Without oil, I lost tons of vives in difficult battles and only found it on 127 via the arriving Gundula by retraining it with Alamar. On 132, the tavern shows Tazar already has 30 defense and views show him in a very fat treasure zone. Having no choice, I jump into an adjacent treasure zone, where I see a Dragon Utopia and +10 sp. But then Kreg hopped over too. Alamar teaches Kirry resurrect. I take the 1ka Dragon Utopia, they give +4 all shield, which is already there. I think about buying off Kreg using tactics, but Kreg also has tactics and first speed, oil = -17 ducks. I try to res, but there's a bonus. I realize that with comrades like Kreg and Tazar it's impossible to compete and I surrender.
Thanks for the game.

After all the rerolls, I got the blue color and Shakti with 1 stack
The game was carried thanks to the external dwelling of monos, which were used to break the first Dragon Utopia with КЗ. After that, everything went like clockwork.
Thanks for the game.

Started after my respawn on the block. On 111 a poor central respawn appeared, the opponent scouted Gunnar, but from the start with heroes they gave 6 elves, and their external dwelling under the castle was revealed. Had to play, although I branched out to only 4 heroes…
On 112 I barely upgrade all the elves, and with 20 I break through to the secondary on grass. It turns out to be a Castle, which I capture on 113, nearby – a stable. I turn around in the other direction towards the swamp. On 114 I capture that town as well. All respawns are kind of small and not particularly rich. Near the swamp 2 dwarf dwellings showed up, which I took on 115-116. First – 20 each, second – 15 each. This allowed me to build up properly to Unicorns in the Stronghold, and on 117 via chain I took a Medusa dwelling for 6 and two crypts for 2500 and 5000, which gave money for buying. Kirya spent the night in the stable. I also broke into the treasure zone on lava, but was met with emptiness.
On 121 I fight 70+ Basilisks for a box. They give 10k experience, leveled up decently. Added Armor and Attack to expert Earth Magic, took Wisdom just in case. Broke back home, bought a book there and got mass Slow.
On 122 I almost lost to 70+ Fire Elementals with a loser for a sword +6, taking it, I rushed off-road to the Griffin Conservatory on the opponent's secondary's respawn. There they gave 2 Angels. Nearby there is a lookout tower.
On 123 I enter the lookout tower and see the blue player's native secondary relatively close. I decide to rush. I sit in the town, there's a Mage Guild with Shield, not bad. I send out a scout – I see Gunnar relatively nearby. There is a horde of Archers and Pikemen, 5 Cavaliers and a few Swordsmen. On his turn the opponent takes the Griffin Conservatory and jumps into a portal next to it into the treasure zone. His stats are relatively small compared to mine, so I decide to chase. The speed boost from the Angel allows me to catch up easily, I also brought 20 gr. Dwarves and 7 Dendroids, killed a Scorpicore in the treasure zone on the way, leveled up Armor, took an artifact +1 to all, and then attacked. Gunnar had gained 3 more Angels, but I have the first turn, immediately cast Slow. He only has 5 mana, so due to the Pegasi there is no magic. The battle was easily won by my 38 elves with cover and a strong advantage in parameters.
Thank you for the game!

The opponent had a convenient layout, played well, there was nothing to counter with.
