have the hero with an army of over 9000

In other words, constantly put him in reserve for battle, just like I did:smile17:

How can you reliably ensure that this single powerful creature doesn't get killed? It's practically a burden, not a help.
Actually, even one dragon with well-developed attack and defense stats is far from being a burden. Personally, this dragon helped me win many battles without losses. And when there was a clear threat to the dragon (for some reason, the enemy hero always tries to kill the dragon first), I would, of course, remove it to the reserve. Overall, the mission is completed without complications if you start quickly and develop. And yes, a tip for those who will play this map in the future: try to capture the human castle as soon as possible in the first week; this will solve one problem. After that, only the green faction bothered me, and even then only until I gathered a more or less decent army; after that, he also got his due=) I played on veteran difficulty.

In general, thanks for the advice. I thought the mission would be difficult, like the one Raialg had in the original campaign, but it wasn't. After capturing the human Castle in the first week (and discovering the Capitol and level 5 creatures there), I replenished my army with Archers and Adepts (I was playing version 3.1 with the EWA mod on Heroes). After that, a dark elf from the right Castle came to the location with the human Castle (WAT). When I attacked him, he immediately fled and lost a large army.
I decided to attack the elf immediately and without delay, and on his territory, I met a Gnome with his army. He was also defeated with minimal losses.
As a result, the enemy lost all his Castles, and the lower Demon didn't even show up (a bug?).
The mission was completed very quickly, the dragon set was collected, and Raialg was found.
