Returned to Kathmandu. The aftermath of the earthquake has been partially cleaned up, but certainly not completely. You could film post-apocalyptic movies here. Or take photos. The scenery is readily available.

Well, let's say I don't have a home anymore. So... where am I supposed to return to?
And why a journalist? In India, I met people who only come home (Russia, Ukraine) every 10 years to renew their passports. And none of them are journalists.
And I'm not a journalist either, generally speaking. Unfortunately, I'm not gifted with literary talent :(

There must be some source of income, of course. Not only for traveling, but also just to rent an apartment, buy food... And what difference does it make in which country to go shopping and rent an apartment?

Yeah, that's true. But most of the income sources I know of require a stable place of residence that isn't left for such a long period. That's why you end up with all sorts of journalists.

On the other hand, in our time of globalization and computerization, I can hardly imagine a profession that wouldn't allow you to change your place of residence if you really want to.

No, I live in Nepal, but I work remotely.
Although, of course, there are options to work right here. I've seen that residence permits are issued to people with professions that are in demand in Nepal. But I haven't looked into what those professions are and how much they pay – I don't need it yet.
