1. 8-4-4-1-1. Setting: mystical, alternate history, a blend of genres. Premise: On Earth, there is a periodic shift of "tribes," peoples, and sometimes even intelligent species. And we, the fourth, are lucky to live during the emergence of the "fifth tribe," while the others awaken and want to fight too. Factions: city - modern humans, one mafia - high technology or steampunk with a focus on intrigue and stealth, the other - mages with a focus on brute force and a lot of corpses. Plus two useful factions: a benevolent forest spirit with a lot of useful abilities, control, and most likely, poisoning, and an evil machine with stealth and again, a lot of corpses.
2. 10-5-1. Setting: classic space opera in the style of Star Trek. Premise: a group of researchers lands on a distant planet, some of the tribes meet them with hostility, and among the locals, there are rumors of a "cursed god." Factions: city - the researchers themselves, plus possibly a couple of local guides, mafia - local inhabitants, possibly with combat beasts, without tricky abilities, but they can defend or heal themselves, useful - the "cursed god," who is actually infected with a Terrible Cosmic Virus, and goes around infecting everyone.
3. 8-4-1-1. Setting: fairy tale. Premise: nightmares have come to the land of children's dreams, and they want children to only have bad dreams. Factions: city - cute, fluffy dreams, very many defensive actions, but they can hardly do any harm. Mafia - nightmarish creatures, very many weakening and confusing actions. Two useful factions: a benevolent one that prevents fighting, many different types of blocks, and few ways to kill, and a Very Scary Nightmare, which even its own side is afraid of, a terrible evil with a lot of corpses and guaranteed carnage.
I might come up with a couple more small experiments as I go. For now, I like the third option the most.
