A Cold Night
Sjöról, stripped to the waist, lay in his bed. It was late at night, but he wasn't sleeping; he was staring at the ceiling and thinking about something. Or perhaps dreaming. Next to him, completely covered with a blanket, someone else was asleep. After some time, the northerner grew tired of just lying there and went downstairs to the first floor of his house. In a rather large room stood a medium-sized wooden table, several chairs, and a bookshelf. Trophied weapons hung on the walls, and logs crackled in the fireplace. The warrior lit an oil lamp and, taking one of the books from the shelf, sat down at the table. For the past few weeks, a treatise by a well-known philosopher-necromancer has captivated the warrior until dawn. And this time it would have been like yesterday, but Silael, who appeared from the shadow of the table, distracted Sjöról from reading.
- I brought something.
- What? - asked the warrior without looking up from the book.
- Information.
The dark elf began to take out large bundles of paper from his shoulder bag and spread them out on the table. After unfolding about ten such bundles, he rearranged them and folded one large map of the dungeons and sewers of the city.
- About the person I spoke about at the last meeting. The source of the problem. He moves through underground passages and sewers. I marked the places where people were infected. There was no other way for him to get into different parts of the city without being noticed by guards or shadows.
- Isn't anyone watching the dungeon?
- It's a labyrinth of confusing paths. No one knows it except my people. You can't just walk through it wherever you want.
- But he did.
- Yes, he is capable of much, since my shadows haven't tracked him down yet.
Light footsteps could be heard. Lilaella descended the stairs from the second floor. Covering herself with a blanket, she walked over to the table and sat next to Sjöról. Silael quickly gathered the papers and, approaching the fireplace, began to throw them in one by one.
- Station your men with Voljor at all entrances and exits to the dungeon and sewer. My people will deal directly with the passages. I hope you remember the places that are not worth wasting time on.
The northerner nodded silently. Silael burned the last paper and, looking at his sister with a condemning look, disappeared into the shadow of the table.

...But
MyHighness spent the night safely at her home. But two northerners didn't let her sleep properly. They talked loudly all night, laughed, ate dried squid, and told dirty jokes. One of them propped up the door of the house so that it couldn't be opened, while the other constantly kept his hand on his sword.
...
MasteR was luckier. A disciplined soldier guarded near his house, and he slept well...
...A man with an unpleasant appearance pursued an unknown person throughout the night, but the potential victim managed to avoid trouble...
...At midnight, someone stumbled upon human remains and immediately hurried away without taking any action...
