No, the secret is in training – convert peasants into crossbowmen. I managed to get around 1100 crossbowmen. I had to gather all the resources and use them to destroy everyone.
-and I don't even know what version I have, neither Hammers of Fate nor Heroes, I only know for sure that it's a pirated copy...:)
The version is indicated in the lower left corner; if it's not there, download patch 2.1:smile11: Although I managed to complete this part of the game normally...:smile04: I even dreamed about it at night!:o

Patches 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, and 1.41 have been released for Heroes.
Patch 2.1 has been released for Hammers of Fate.

But not everyone will be able to run version 2.1; I have a pirated copy, and when installing it, it says "...GAME NOT INSTALLED...":smile51: And no matter what you do, it won't install!!!! On my pirated copy, I only had one bug...(knock on wood)...when I couldn't find the dragon scale shield...I restarted, and then everything worked...:smile09:

That's correct. Patch 1.4 can be installed on any version of the game. And it's also recommended to install 1.41 on top of it (it's only 10 MB) as it fixes several unpleasant bugs (game crashes when killing phantoms/gates), and also allows you to play on ubi.com (due to changes in statistics tracking, playing with other versions besides 1.41 is now impossible).

Well, you have patch 2.1, so you need to:
1. Uninstall the patch.
2. Either convert the Latinists into Inquisitors or the Inquisitors into Knights.
3. And did you buy a ship? You need to buy one to be able to summon it! :)
