I was thinking about a side event; the Olympic format isn't very convenient for those who get eliminated in the first round. Therefore, some additional competitions would be desirable. I had the idea to create a tactical battle tournament – either against neutral creatures or against each other, but this would require too much time to create adequate scenarios, and I don't have that time. I contacted other potential authors, but they didn't show much enthusiasm. Therefore, the idea arose to hold a side event on SoD (Stronghold of the Dragons). That is, players who are eliminated from the main event would enter the corresponding round of the side event, like in the lower bracket of a double-elimination tournament. But since the schedule is calculated only for the main event, the side event needs to end on the same day, meaning the game format should not allow for delays. The most obvious rule set that satisfies this condition is M200. But in my opinion, it is quite acceptable to expand the list of templates. For example, to include templates that can be played on the L-U size. I know of Balance, Panic, TDD, and possibly Jeb (I've seen reports on L-U). If we can find a 5th template, we can choose from these.

I think we should allocate a portion of the prize fund to the winner of the side event. At least $100.

There's some news: at the request of the base director (and it will be better and more profitable for us too), we will all live in building number 5. There are 4 rooms there that are slightly better and more expensive than the others; those who submitted their applications first will live in them. Well, in my opinion, the best approach would be to have 3 prize places in the main event, and the prize for the winner of the side event should be equal to the prize for 3rd place in the main event. No additional fees are charged for the side event.
