For a fan of the vampire clan, I would like to share some information I gathered while playing the well-known "RubyPlayGames":
1) Vampires The Masquerade - Redemption
2) Vampires The Masquerade - BloodLines - two excellent games about vampires.
Although these games are not just RPGs, they feature a beautiful storyline, especially in 1).
So, vampires are beings of the world of darkness, unattainable and incomprehensible to humans, called
Cainites, after the name of their creator - Cain, the murderer. The legend of Cain's curse
begins simply - he killed his brother Abel, and God cursed him, saying that
food growing from the earth would no longer satisfy his hunger, water would not quench
his thirst, and only blood could sustain his strength. Thus, the first vampire appeared.
However, the resolution of the game's legend is quite complex: over time, Cain made 13 people
from the descendants of Adam's 3rd son, Seth, into beings like himself, letting them taste his cursed blood.
This fact became interesting because all 13 became the founders of their own clans, subraces
of vampires. Each went their own way, some through death, others through wisdom.
But all the vampire descendants, who have multiplied over the years, fear only one thing -
the Day of the Gehenna, when the 13 great progenitors will rise, and the hour of reckoning and the hour
of death for all living things will come.
I propose a description of 11 races (I didn't find information on two), all very briefly.
If anyone is interested in learning the whole story, play 1). IMHO - it's a worthy game!
1. Brujah (Prometheans). The most human-like of Cain's children. They chose the path
of wisdom, outwardly they are ordinary people, they respect mortals, they drink blood without killing them.
They are always searching, trying to uncover the secrets of the heavens, all the secrets of the earth. Because of this, they
are prone to madness, and they fear it most of all. Magic that enhances physical
characteristics and induces attachment and fear is most characteristic of them.
2. Cappadocians. Vampires who have devoted themselves to the rituals of death. Their specialty is controlling the dead,
zombies and skeletons rise at their call. They look like humans, with deathly pale skin.
3. Gangrel. Exceptionally strong vampires, physically powerful. Lacking intelligence
and living in the forests, these werewolf-like creatures can use shapeshifting magic, transforming
into wolves, extending wild claws, and being able to turn into a cloud of mist to rest in
battle. Enlarged humans with animalistic eyes and increased hairiness.
4. Tremere. Vampire mages. They grow magical trees to feed them with power,
they study blood magic, and with their dark rituals, they have made themselves enemies of many. They also
control fire and generate creatures for their protection - biting frogs
and golems. Their largest and most complex creatures are gargoyles, into which they
transform their strongest enemies. They are dressed in robes, typical of mages. They are physically very weak.
5. Ventrue. Vampire aristocrats. The wealthiest representatives of the clan, they have always known how to
find profit in everything, whether it's selling slaves or inter-clan war. The powerful of this world,
they are always under the protection of rulers, surrounded by sycophants. Magic
of majesty and creating a favorable impression is their specialty. They are kings. Perhaps the only ones of all
clans who cannot satisfy their hunger with animal blood - they are sickened by it. They most
resemble the vampires from 5.
6. Nosferatu. Vampires of the underworld. Thin and hideous in appearance, they have taken a liking to cemeteries
and sewers. They have dug their own network underground, from which they can reach
anywhere. Magic of stealth, the ability to become invisible and attack
the enemy from behind gives them their advantages. Despite their physique, they are powerful, with long and hard claws. In everyday life, they feed on rats.
7. Malkavians. Lunatics. They see the world not as all the other clans do. All
vampires fear their madness, it gives them strength, but they lose control. Through their discipline, they infect
enemies with madness, which is the most frightening because of its uncontrollability. Increased intelligence and visual
senses.
8. Tzimisce. The most repulsive of the Cainites. Their main goal is to enslave the world, creating
armies and hordes of beings like themselves. Much scarier than the Nosferatu, they are against all earthly
and unearthly laws, they defile all living things, transforming both humans and vampires, which
contradicts the laws of the Cainites. All clans fight against them. Small and vile.
9. Toreador. The most beautiful of the vampires. Their life is pleasure. They indulge in delight,
killing in the agony of passion. Prostitutes and macho men, they enjoy their curse and give
this pleasure to others. They are very humane, they are creators of art, feelings, and emotions.
The ability to explore, see the invisible, and forge various things.
A blood-red rose in the form of a tattoo on the body is their distinguishing mark.
10. Setites. They wear ancient Egyptian clothing, build their shelters in Egyptian style,
which are hidden behind brothels. Snake magic of hypnosis and summoning snakes, draining life
force. This is how they feed on the patrons of brothels since the beginning of this ancient occupation.
They tear out their own hearts and keep them separate from the body. This is how they achieved immortality,
but if an enemy drinks blood from the heart, they will gain the strength of the owner and kill him.
11. Lasombra. Descended from one holy father, a blasphemer, who decided to become a vampire.
They are less susceptible to burning in the sun, protected from the faithful. And even, conversely, they are
inaccessible to other vampires because they are on the holy, protected church land.
These clans existed about 800 years ago and were constantly at war, but by now, everything
has changed a lot. Lasombra and Cappadocians have been destroyed, the rest have divided into 2 large
clans: Sabbat and Camarilla.
The Sabbat, based on the Tzimisce and Nosferatu, want to destroy all living people and turn
the rest of the vampires into the Sabbat. This is what the Tzimisce used to do.
The Camarilla includes many of everyone. They maintain the mask of non-existence of the Kindred - the Masquerade.
They live among people, no longer allow the creation of beings like themselves, in whom the blood
of Cain is very thin, and they immediately catch all those who violate the Masquerade (those who are revealed to humans that they are vampires) and
the founders of the clan execute them, passing sentence.
So, these are the things that have already been created about vampires. Now, if they are introduced into Heroes as
neutral creatures, this information may suggest how to present the vampires and add
their characteristic abilities.
I can also post pictures of what the representatives look like, but I don't feel like messing with it right now, later
