I'm curious why any topic that veers into abstract concepts eventually devolves into either insults or references to something being shoved into someone's rear.
Because everything here is done haphazardly, and the people in power are jerks!
Added 1 minute ago And everything is done poorly so that it's easier to steal. And why do they steal? Because they are jerks.
Added 5 minutes ago As long as there's still something to steal in Russia, everyone will remain calm.
I don't know what's so interesting here; I read the responses from the leaders of the "Maidan" in the spirit that "to achieve the ultimate goal: overthrowing Yanukovych, all means are justified."
Well, that's what they say, but it doesn't seem to bother those who support the "Maidan," does it?
There are also active supporters here, but they don't seem to have anything to say about it.
Papadopoulos wonders: “How would a British politician react if, for example, a Polish politician came to London and joined protesters demanding a new government in the UK?” His answer is categorical: “This would be a completely unacceptable situation.” “In 2010, President Yanukovych was democratically elected, and this was recognized by the European Union, for example. Therefore, Mr. Yanukovych has a mandate to follow the path that, in his opinion, best serves the interests of Ukraine, whether it be with the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus or with the EU. This is how democracy works,” the British expert concluded.
The people of Ukraine elected Yanukovych as president in 2010, according to the 2004 constitution. Upon coming to power, he, let's say, pressured the Constitutional Court, and it ruled to revert to the 1996 constitution.
This constitution granted the president significantly more powers. In other words, the people of Ukraine did not grant him such powers; Yanukovych simply usurped power. From that moment on, his legitimacy was highly questionable.
Countries with a century of democratic institutions and fair courts have nothing in common with authoritarian regimes or countries that are only at the beginning of their path to democracy.
The Party of Regions, back in 2002, under President Kuchma and Prime Minister Yanukovych, set a course towards the EU and NATO. Under President Yushchenko, Ukraine continued to follow this course. President Yanukovych also continued to state that Ukraine was heading towards Europe until last November. After Yanukovych decided to deviate from this path, the Maidan protests began.
Cobra, answer a simple question: how many more years will Putin rule Russia? If Russians have the opportunity to change something through elections? And of course, the answer "as many as Lukashenko rules Belarus" will not satisfy me.
From today, bells in Czech churches across the Czech Republic are ringing in support of Ukraine and in memory of those who died on the barricades in Kyiv.
I will answer your question after I receive an answer to my question, which I have asked here about three times and which my opponents have left unanswered. To avoid having to search for it again, the question is: what are you going to do with the eastern regions that do not support Kyiv's aspirations to join the EU, but rather prefer to align with Russia, or have mixed views?
What kind of kindergarten is this... For example, I watch the news and never really believe it, because for the most part it's propaganda and lobbying for someone's interests. So yesterday, while watching another news program, I saw the following: "3-4 people are standing there, banging some metal objects against another metal object, creating noise and supposedly attracting attention to themselves. A reporter is filming all of this, and he calls one of the women, about 55-60 years old, over and asks her what she is trying to achieve with her actions... her answer: well, I... I... I... I... *sniffs*... *mumbles*... I want them to understand how people live! What people? And what does how people live have to do with it (probably they live differently?!) In my opinion, it all started because of the European Union?! Or am I missing something?! In general, most of these protesters, probably 90%, don't know what they're fighting for, they just want to participate..."
P.S. This reminds me of all my attempts to sign up for the Novice Winter 2014 tournament - they were all in vain :D
Just so you don't have to search, the point of the question is what you plan to do with the eastern regions that don't support Kyiv in its aspirations to join the EU, but rather lean towards Russia, or are split 50/50?
You would be surprised by the results of a poll among the residents of these very eastern regions. Few people now aspire to join Russia. Forget about a 50/50 split. You live and think as if it were 25 years ago.

I want to "see the light." Links to the surveys, please!

No matter what...
As the title suggests, this is where you can discuss anything. If you want to discuss something and there isn't a suitable topic, post it here. Or if something bothers you, or you just need to vent – don't clutter up all the other topics; come to this thread and express yourself. But: The rules of the portal www.HeroesWorld.ru still apply, so please refrain from using profanity and insults. If you want to argue, go ahead, but that doesn't mean you can start mudslinging. HW has a reputation as a friendly resource (in my opinion), so let's not ruin it with squabbles. Profanity, flaming, and trolling will still be removed by moderators with appropriate notes and penalty points. You're unlikely to see a lenient "off-topic" note here.
