I invite everyone today at 6:00 PM to the qualification draw for the main stage. The draw will be blind, and most players will have a free slot and automatically advance to the 1/32 stage. To succeed, you need to win three rounds, up to the 1/8 stage. Games in the 1/64 and 1/32 stages are played to 1 victory, and in the 1/16 stage, to 2 victories.

It has been decided that the draw will not be blind, but seeded, i.e., players who received higher numbers will be placed in different parts of the bracket. The player with the higher number chooses the color.
The rating will play a secondary role in the seeding; primarily, we will be guided by the strength of the players.
The list with seeding numbers will be available before the draw and posted on the forum. The draw will take place as planned at 6:00 PM Moscow time.

Here are the seeding numbers for the draw. I'll immediately say that I ask you not to dwell on the placement; this seeding is not intended to designate or highlight anyone, but solely to separate strong players on different sides of the bracket, so the places are distributed relatively conditionally.
If you think I made a mistake somewhere (significantly), write to me in ICQ or in a private message; I will listen/reconsider, but please don't start a huge argument here. Believe me, even compiling such a subjective seeding took a lot of time.

The qualification draw has taken place!
I will post the bracket in the first post shortly, and also add the deadlines for each round. You can start playing and arranging matches with your opponents right now. The player ranked higher chooses which color to start with, until the template is filled.
I wish everyone good luck!
So, when exactly do we need to play? Explain it to a newbie, please.
This is what is written in the regulations. From the last sentence, even a hedgehog should understand that the selection of the top 16 is a subjective opinion of the 3 organizers. Therefore, what darkello wrote is simply a confirmation of the regulations. No one is forcing anyone into the tournament who disagrees with the regulations.
The draw is scheduled for this evening.
By the way, it would be interesting to see what lists our players would create if they were the organizers of this tournament. So, those who wish can now "play organizers" and write their own top 9. Please note that the tournament is positioned as the Champions League, i.e., your top 9 should include those who have tournament victories.
Since all the winners of 2013 who wanted and could participate have already been included in the top 16, you will probably have to dig deeper into the past and consider not only the champions but also the prize-winning places of 2013.
It is desirable to justify your opinion, i.e., write why you think this particular player deserves to be one of the 16 champions.

Comments: Instead of Sevansan, who did not play in 2013, Yostairs, who showed brilliant play this year, was included in the list.
Instead of one of the "fish," Bishop was added. Dirty has more awards, although his rating is lower, so I left him on the list instead of LeBron. The result of the 2x2 Resurrection tournament is not taken into account, as the tournament was played on WT, and the organizer previously wrote about the tournament that "there is no SOD."
Since the tournament is held within the framework of SOD, the victories are also counted within the framework of SOD.
The list, of course, is not of the strongest, but of the strongest among those who applied.
Am I correct in understanding that the player higher in the pairing chooses the red color?
The player marked in blue in the table starts crossing out the template.
The player higher in the ranking chooses which color to start with before crossing out the template.

By the way, we have a slight overlap. The Diamond tournament was held on two versions - SoD and WoG.
Juristis (488-784-621) plays a lot and has a high win rate.
At the beginning of November, Juristis has 15 wins, 9 losses, and a 62.5% win rate in the autumn season. Is that a high percentage?
To reach the group stage, players in the qualifiers need to win 2-3 times. I don't think you should worry about those you, the three organizers, have included in the lists. I think their level allows them to easily pass the qualification without your help.
And in the groups, the game will put everyone in their place.

My comment showed that we often overlook certain nuances. That's how "subjective opinion" arises.
Objectively, the selection of 16 should be done like this:
- clearly define what is taken into account;
- evaluate each criterion, for example, in points;
- go through the heroic history of all candidates;
- sum up or come up with a more complex formula with coefficients for seniority, etc.
It's a week's worth of work. And it's pointless.
Personally, from the list of 9 people, I was "subjectively" confident in 5. The remaining candidates (and there were about 10 more) we discussed for a long time. We came to the list that we came to.
Here are 3 lists that those who decided to play organizers wrote here, and they also differ. If these three were the hosts, they would have to form one list. That is, they would also have to discuss and decide, someone would have to give in, and someone would have to add arguments for their candidates. It's not as simple as it seems at first glance.

According to my information, you and Валенк were supposed to finish playing yesterday.
I don't see a report or an award. Given the, let's say, lenient deadlines in Diamond, you need to adjust to 11 days.
Someone is digging up dirt on you :)
Due to New Year holidays, the deadlines will be extended. Since half of the participants have a freeslot and already know their opponent, I ask you not to delay and play – better early than at the last moment.
So, I expect results for the first round (RO 128, aka 1/64) by the 9th. The second round games will proceed according to schedule, with a slight allowance for New Year. Results for RO 64 should be submitted by January 22nd. After that, the tournament will follow the deadlines specified in the regulations.
The report format is no different from the example given in the rules; you all know it perfectly well. Please pay close attention to writing the date correctly.
To my surprise, I received a number of questions/complaints regarding the phrasing: "the player higher in the ranking chooses which color to play before the template is rolled." There was even an opinion that blue has an 80% advantage in this format, that blue chooses both the town and the color.
First, on HeroesWorld, it has been the custom for many tournaments that blue begins the template roll, thereby leaving the template choice to the red player (this statement holds true for an odd number of templates). That is, red chooses from the remaining two templates. Why I am hearing from more than one person that blue chooses the template remains a mystery to me.
Second, I will definitely calculate the statistics on how often the player higher in the ranking picks the blue color, and I believe the results will be 20% vs 80% – only, quite the opposite.
The bracket will be added to the first post today; for now, please use the link mentioned just above (there have been technical difficulties implementing the bracket via HTML on the forum).
A second mini-contest will be announced in the evening; I hope participation will be higher than in the first one ;)
