The only thing I would advise is to try to gradually move away from the standard system: groups + double elimination. For example, a knockout game: the League roster is formed, divided into groups, and 1 person is gradually eliminated from each group, after which new groups are randomly formed from the remaining players, and everything is repeated. And so on several times, until 4-6 people remain, who will somehow share the places in a sophisticated way. You can arrange a small show - highlight the players more closely - preferences for templates, dossiers, etc. approximately like in boxing, only here there will be your own league players. :)

Personally, I expect the tournament to be as popular, spectacular, intense, and intriguing as the real League, where the strongest players are gathered. Not just 8 or 10 players selected from any tournament, which not all strong players can get through for various reasons, and not only due to their gameplay. The coverage and presentation of the tournament, both on the forum and in the broadcasts, will play a significant role. Newcomers will learn more about the veterans, see more battles between strong opponents, and witness the clash of tactics and ingenuity. The confrontation between new, but already well-prepared players and veterans will be particularly interesting.
Some new contests and features during the tournament will add variety. It might be a good idea to add news or a brief description of the most interesting battles. Perhaps this would be best done by streamers who regularly stream. It's impossible to watch/rewatch all the streams, but I think everyone would be interested in reading brief summaries.

You know, what mostly puts me off from tournaments is the limitations. Either the timer isn't suitable, or the templates, or something else. Here, everything is good, let's do without any forced requirements. And it's not even about the symbolic 10$, personally, I just don't see the point in just throwing it away. I haven't reached the level to compete for prize places in such tournaments yet; I just signed up to test my skills. What's the point for me, and for 70% of the participants, in contributing something if the chance of winning is 1 in 500?

The organizer has announced the rules; those who have read them and registered are satisfied with them. Changes can be minimal at most. Otherwise, we'll change the templates, then the timer, then mandatory fees, then rewrite the rules, and then something else.

Contributions are completely optional; those who don't contribute have no claim to any prizes by default. The prizes will be distributed among those who contribute. Let's keep it simple.
