I enjoy peasants.
Especially when there are many of them.

I enjoy it when they get poisoned by assassin's venom :) 10 at a time, per turn.
Actually, what I like about archers, especially when they're level 1, is that there are a lot of them, and they're all archers... and by the time someone gets close to them, they've already inflicted a lot of damage!
An army of skeleton archers can't compare to your peasants!

Yeah, especially when Faidaen uses his special attack before the battle to destroy the skeletons :D, and what are heroes for then?
I'm happy when a hundred peasants kill everything.
Their problem: low speed, low initiative, they will be destroyed faster than they can do anything. Imps are a punishment for mages.
I adore Dryads :)
I can't stand Demons :p

In version 2.1, retraining is limited by the number of units per week, about 20 units maximum, so peasants are not very useful.
They also promise to limit it in 1.5. Then it will be more profitable to train higher-level units. But for starters, 20 additional archers are also not bad.
especially when a watchtower is built...
And if there's also Ingvar in the castle, it's even better.

In a crucial battle, when there are enough monsters of all levels, the only first-level unit that it doesn't feel wasteful to use a turn on (and I mean the FIRST turn), in a way that prevents the opponent from using it, is still Imp/Familiar, in my opinion. So that there's at least a little mana left (which doesn't always happen because it has high initiative). I rarely consider other first-level monsters...
