Purification by Fire
All the survivors gathered to watch the battle that was about to determine their fate. The forces of the two villains were equal. At first, the hordes of red and black spiders belonging to
Arandor seemed to be gaining the upper hand, but then
Alexeagle got really angry and unleashed a powerful stream of flame that scorched
Arandor's wings. He still tried to resist, but the ring of raging fire around him tightened. Suddenly,
VesperLindt emerged from the shadows, wrapped her lithe body around her defeated sister in the graveyard, and tried to lift her up. But the little dragonling didn't have enough strength, and they both perished in the flames.
Guru was lucky – he stood further away and managed to jump onto his faithful rabbit. But even the fastest Forest runner couldn't keep up with the swift streak of flame. A few moments later, the rabbit was set ablaze by a precise volley of fire. Maddened by pain and light, the creature threw off its rider and darted towards the dry trunk of
Sky as a living torch, setting the dry branches and leaves on fire. The bark of the oldest oak tree flared up like a haystack. Soon, the entire Forest was ablaze.
Alexeagle circled above his creation, secured his sword more comfortably on his back, and flew off in an unknown direction.
Years passed. The wasteland grew over with grass, then young trees, and after centuries, a new forest rustled cheerfully with greenery in the old place, and new fairies and dragonlings danced the same ancient Dance of Nature near the new oak tree. But that is a completely different story...
The Forest Fire Wins!
CluesNight 1Melody of Byrd - composer William Byrd - born in 1540 - corsair Francis Drake - Neyra Drake.
Night 2American rock - Eagles - Alexeagle. The clue turned out to be very simple. I had hoped that the concept of "American rock" would be somewhat more vague, but alas!
Night 3The Beatles - Ringo Starr - born in 1940 - the first appearance in comics of the character Doctor Fate - Arandor.
Zimmer's melodies - composer Hans Zimmer - the Dark Knight trilogy - Batman - collaboration with Doctor Fate - Arandor.
London Philharmonic Orchestra - soundtracks to the Lord of the Rings trilogy - J.R.R. Tolkien's universe - Númenor - province of Arandor - Arandor.
Night 4Music from Federico Fellini's films - composer Nino Rota - soundtracks to the film The Godfather - mafia - VesperLindt. The clue was solved in a simpler and more associative way; I need to take this into account.
"Eleanor Rigby" - album by the Beatles "Revolver" - "Yellow Submarine" - creative group "Yellow Submaryan" - Robert Saakyanz - cartoon "Oh My God, Talking Fish!" - Alexeagle. Compensation for the very easy previous clue. Sorry, Alex, I really didn't think it would be that easy.
Night 5Elven singing - fantasy - J.R.R. Tolkien - Númenor - province of Arandor - Arandor. Well, here I didn't even try :)
