Soon, Ritnaran himself woke up. First, he decided to go to the spring to wash his face, then try to examine the map in more detail, at least to find out what kind of animals live in these areas (approximately), and then set off in search of food.
The article was written in a very clear and engaging style. However, after finishing it, the wizard felt a bit puzzled: on the one hand, it was likely that there was food, and it was probably delicious, but catching it and staying alive posed a problem.
Well, Ritnaran was deep in thought. On the one hand, he wouldn't be able to make a decent trap, and he couldn't spend the whole day running around the forest either. In the end, he decided to consult with Lasar; perhaps the boy could suggest something useful.
The cabin boy looked sadly at the sea.
"I don't like fish; I've eaten too much of it. But maybe it's easier for us to get enough to eat this way. Or maybe we'll find something else? We didn't find this island on the map, so maybe there are other edible animals here? Or maybe there are berries? I've never eaten berries, only in jam."
-Alright, - the wizard agreed, - let's just take one more look around the island. Maybe you're right. And if we don't find anything, alas, the fish are waiting... And the wizard thoughtfully wandered into the depths of the forest...
They came across a clearing where ordinary anomaloparachudozavrs could be seen. However, Ritnaran was looking at them from a distance; they hadn't noticed him yet. It was also interesting that the outlines of some kind of wooden structure could be seen on the side.
"Hmm," Ritnaran pondered, "it seems like ordinary food is what they need. But what to do? I could try to organize a wild hunt, but I'm afraid it won't be without casualties. Or, what if I scare them? For example, I could create a small whirlwind."
The mage decided to gather several heavy and sturdy logs in the forest (but not too heavy), and then use air magic to "shoot" them at the dinosaurs. The idea was crazy and silly, but Ritnaran was determined to reach the structure, while at the same time trying to at least stun, and then finish off a couple of monsters, and scare away the rest.
The wooden structure was not that close to the clearing, and in principle, with enough caution, it could be approached, which Ritnaran did. It turned out to be a log... either a hut or a shack, something in between, probably. It stood on a hill (also made of logs) and was surrounded by a palisade of sharp branches.
A rifle appeared in the window of the hut, and with the comment "I'll get you now, you nasty beast!", it opened fire on the approaching creatures, fortunately missing.
