Before the first ray of sunlight could penetrate the room through the small window, an explosion in the adjacent room woke Roland, a patron of the tavern "Pull and Tug." Apparently, it was another not-so-successful experiment by Morlish.

Roland anxiously rushed out of the room, and when he peeked into the room from which the noise was coming, he was so frightened that he immediately furrowed his brows, showing an angry expression on his face. He saw (as previously mentioned) Morlish, with something exploding right under his nose. Enraged, Roland stood there for a long time, waiting for an explanation of what had happened.

Morlish took off his glasses and looked at him. "Everything's fine, don't worry. It turns out this substance contains nitro, I didn't know."

– Let's say, try not to make such mistakes again. Roland said with relief. As it turned out later, this caused problems – the tavern attracted the attention of bandits, and seeing a flash of light in the window, they had thoughts of gold. They gathered immediately and set off to find it. When the bandits arrived and started causing trouble, the tavern owner reacted...

Seeing the armed men, the bartender, having learned from experience, reacted instantly:
--Don't kill him! There's a chemist on the third floor; I saw the vials with my own eyes! He must know how to turn copper into gold! Room 308!
The bandits grinned and headed up the stairs, weapons at the ready.

The battle has begun.

Seeing the armed men, Roland realized that things were getting bad and opened fire on them before they could catch up to the Dascalos. He wounded the bandit with daggers, but the bandit caught up to him and slashed him badly. Morlish threw a smoke grenade, which made things much more difficult for the bandits, but also for himself and Roland. The second bandit, seeing this, attacked him with a saber. The beginning of the battle was discouraging; the opponents were clearly attacking more powerfully, but Morlish's strategy paid off: the smoke grenades confused the enemies, while Roland's Flash spell practically required no conditions to cast. Soon, the enemies completely lost their ability to orient themselves in space, and Morlish only occasionally added "more smoke," while Roland consistently blasted the bandits with Flash spells until they fell to the ground (the sound of the impact was more indicative of this than the visual image). In the smoke, Morlish still took some damage: the opponents decided that he was their main problem and tried to wound him as much as they could. After a while, the smoke cleared, and the companions were able to see the heavily wounded bandits. (Roland +163 experience, Morlish +228 experience)
A couple of minutes later, the halfling and the Yoru climbed the stairs and looked at the result of the battle. After asking if the winners were okay and receiving an affirmative answer from the panting Morlish, they went back.

Morlish treated himself with some kind of chemical substance. But this method had a side effect: severe stomach upset. And since Morlish continued his chemical experiments, and he often had to run, sometimes right in the middle of a chemical reaction, it's no surprise that he caused a fire.
