Зима 2011-12.
New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
Hello, fellow Heroes players.
A good opportunity has arisen to start a betting pool, and the upcoming match between CIS champion Stinger and the most popular player in the Russian-speaking internet, Twaryna, in the King of the Hill tournament will serve as the occasion.
I'll take the risk of accepting bets on this match, as the idea of a betting pool has been brewing for a while, and someone needs to start it. So, here we go:
The minimum bet will be equivalent to 50 Russian rubles.
Each player can place up to ten minimum bets on the match winner.
The collected pool will be divided among those who correctly guess the match outcome, and the organizer. For now, I'll set aside 10% of the total amount for organizational expenses, but I hope this percentage will be much lower.
To place a bet:
1) Send an amount that is a multiple of 50 rubles to the Webmoney wallets listed below (just in case, here are the exchange rates against the ruble for today):
USD 1 US Dollar 31.4512
EUR 1 Euro 41.1193
UAH 10 Ukrainian Hryvnia 38.6378
2) Send me a private message on our forum with your nickname, the amount of your bet, and your wallet number.
That's all. The total amount of the pool will be announced immediately after the start of the game.
Since this is the first experience of this kind, there is a high probability of misunderstandings, so please be understanding of any possible mistakes. Reasonable criticism and constructive suggestions are welcome.
And here's the match announcement: twaryna (red swamp) vs =Stinger= (blue castle). Jebus Cross map.
The last game between these rivals, with the same castles, was extremely interesting - Twaryna got 6 angel dwellings, but he didn't have time to convert all the winged creatures into archangels. Stinger did everything he could to lose, but he still managed to pull himself together for the final :) We'll see if the random number generator will be kind enough to provide an abundance of high-level dwellings again.
And the most important thing I didn't like about Roma's proposal is that he basically just wants to throw out an idea without wanting to continue working on it and fleshing out the details, because he admitted that money and everything related to it is not his thing.
Right now, Roma suggests simply placing a blind bet and getting a profit depending on how many people bet on another player. In other words, if 10 people bet, and they all bet on the same creature (for example), in case the creature wins, they won't get anything – they'll just get their money back.
Perhaps this first attempt will determine the overall mood going forward.
Yesterday, Roma wrote to me about his idea, and I tried to explain to him that it wouldn't work in this format.
When only one pair of players is involved, coefficients are required for betting, and the organizer must be responsible for the bets with their own money. It is also necessary for people to know what they are betting on and what they will receive if they win.
Currently, Roma is suggesting simply placing a blind bet and receiving a profit depending on how many people bet on the other player. In other words, if 10 people bet, and they all bet on a creature (for example), in the event of the creature winning, they will not receive anything – they will simply get their money back.
Plus, Javdet decided to take 10% of the profit, and it's unclear on what basis. That is, in the example I gave, people will not only not win anything, but they will also lose 10% of their bet.
And the most important thing that I didn't like about Roma's proposal is that he basically just wants to throw out an idea without wanting to continue working on it and thinking through the details, because he admitted that money and everything related to it is not his thing.
I hope, Roma, you don't want to keep this a secret, and I haven't revealed any of your secrets. No offense, but all of this looks raw and uninteresting.
My only, but important, suggestion is that during the betting process, the ratio of the total amounts bet on each side should be displayed and updated after each bet.
