Hello.
I have an idea to organize a tournament between Russian-speaking Internet communities for the Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate version of the game.
If everything goes well, we can then consider organizing a similar tournament between international Internet resources dedicated to Heroes of Might and Magic V.
In this thread, I propose we discuss the organization of such a tournament, based on the open letter that I posted on the largest Russian-language resources dedicated to Heroes of Might and Magic V. You can find the content of the letter below.

Not long ago, the "Battle of Heroes 2006" tournament (http://www.heroesleague.ru/online/hmmfight_finals.html) ended, organized by the company "Nival" (http://www.nival.com/ru/) and the Internet community "Heroes League" (http://www.heroesleague.ru/)).
Since we are all already starting to plan for the next year, 2007, I propose that we begin preparations for a tournament between Russian-speaking Internet communities dedicated to the game Heroes of Might and Magic V.
There are currently all the prerequisites for this tournament. The expansion pack for the game, Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate, was recently released, and there will soon be a certain lull in information, so I propose that we start the tournament at the end of January 2007, as the New Year holidays are coming up, and we need to have enough time to thoroughly prepare for the tournament, so I think a month is an optimal timeframe for preparation.

Now, what I propose:
1) I invite all Russian-speaking Internet communities to submit teams from their projects. The list of projects to which this proposal is addressed:
1.1 Heroes Portal (http://www.heroesportal.net/)
1.2 Heroes League (http://www.heroesleague.ru/)
1.3 Heroic Corner (http://heroes.ag.ru/)
1.4 Heroes World (http://www.heroesworld.ru/)
1.5 Sinister SUN (http://www.heroes-clan.ru)
1.6 As we can see, we need one more team (of course, if all of the above resources accept the challenge) :) Perhaps, this will be a team from the "Nival" forum???

2) I propose that all negotiations about the upcoming tournament be conducted in a separate thread that I open on the "Nival" forum, here:

3) Other resources dedicated to Heroes of Might and Magic V, not listed in the list, can also join the tournament if they can form teams and agree with the rules of the tournament.

Now about what we need to hold the tournament:

1) The heads of the listed Internet communities should write here:

if the proposal to hold such a tournament interests them.

2) We need to determine the system by which the tournament will be held.
2.1) Duel on the Ubisoft server (online).
2.2) Passing the map for speed (offline).
2.3) Passing the map to level up a hero and put him in the arena (offline).
Of course, it is possible to hold the tournament in all of the above versions. We need to decide on the system for holding the tournament, the number of teams, and the number of people in the teams.
2.4) I propose that player reports about the games, as well as communication between players within this tournament, be conducted on the "Nival" forum.
2.5) In order for the reports from this tournament to be more colorful and spectacular, I propose that we appoint responsible captains in each of the teams participating in the tournament, and also provide each of the above Internet projects with its symbolic banner for graphic identification of the team member.

I deliberately did not write an official response right away in order to see the players' reaction :roll:
So, what do we have here. UgoLok, Nival, and HeroesWorld are silent, but this looks more like a sign of disagreement. SS expressed himself somewhat ambiguously, but it seems more like a refusal. So, that leaves the two of us (just like Ten Little Indians :)). Yes, the League is not against playing even against the World team (or at least Russian-speaking communities), but the problem is that only four people responded to the tournament. Unfortunately, this is not interesting to anyone, including the players themselves :( What is the point of playing in a tournament with five participants? The Tournament of the Century had five good teams with a total of about 100 people. I think we need to aim for a tournament of a similar scale, and for that, apparently, we will have to wait a while. But then, as already mentioned, we can immediately set our sights on foreign players!

You suggest playing League of Heroes tournaments and comparing results, but sorry, that is not the format that would be interesting. The idea is postponed until better times.

So, here's why I haven't responded in this thread:

I was waiting to see a proposal for rules, whether for online or offline play, for a tournament between Russian-speaking Internet communities on the Heroes of Might and Magic V “Hammers of Fate” version.

In my opinion, this is what should be the starting point, and only then should we decide on the system by which the tournament will be held and which resources will participate in it. We need to be realistic and offer players several options from which they can choose the most suitable one. Conduct a survey, if necessary, instead of misleading players from the start. IMHO!

In general, the idea is worthwhile and deserves attention! But without well-defined rules, no tournament can take place, especially one of this level!

Therefore, my advice to Gorbik as the organizer for the future: Provide the tournament regulations in full, i.e., a set of rules, and I assure you, there will be many more responses, as well as more interested parties from the administrations of various resources.

P.S. We have very skilled players, and I think they will be able to defend the honor of HW! If the rules suit everyone, I will try to assemble an HW team.
