But there are things worse than death. At least for me.

The worst thing in this world is precisely IMMORTALITY.
And, having looked Death in the eyes, you change—that's just how it is (believe me, from birth until I was 7 years old, I walked along a precipice... No, I wasn't critically ill—I was simply unlucky. To contract something that affects 1 child out of 10000—it was roughly like that), and you begin to understand—Death is not romance, Death is an attribute of Life, and simultaneously—a blind monster. But in general... Humans live on a narrow strip between life and death... We are mortal, but we live.
Alex, there's no magic? He-he-he... funny... try struggling on the brink of death for a week, then you can talk... once you have changed. Or spend a year in Western Ukrainian Volhynia. Wander through the villages... and draw your own conclusions.
But magic is not a source of blessings either. Balance... that is the roadblock for the "lords of the world."

Of course...
The worst thing in this world is IMMORTALITY.
And, having looked Death in the eye, you change; it's true (believe me, from birth until I was 7, I walked along the edge of a cliff... No, I wasn't seriously ill – I was just unlucky. To get sick with something that affects 1 child out of 10,000 – that's about how it was).
I experienced it for a few minutes, but that was enough.
The first time was in childhood; I woke up and realized I couldn't breathe.
And the second time (about five years ago), when it dawned on me that I had just narrowly escaped death, I went to wash myself in a state of prostration. At home, I wrote something on the theme of "Why my face is even covered in mud."
and you begin to understand – Death is not romance, Death is an attribute of Life, and at the same time – a blind monster. And in general... People live on a narrow strip between life and death... We are mortal, but we live.
Some people think they are evil. But what would happen if people (and animals) stopped dying?
Alex, is there no magic?
There is. And it's not fairy tales or games.

What if people (and animals) stopped dying?
It would initially be quite pleasant, but then it would turn into chaos! Overpopulation would require increased resource consumption, and then resources would rapidly begin to dwindle! Eventually, a struggle for survival would arise, or there simply wouldn't be enough resources in the universe, resulting in the extinction of humanity!
You forgot something else. Can a person live in a decaying, elderly body? Or with a broken spine? Or with their insides spilling out? They'd just have to live with it. Like it?
"Where is Death? - There is none. It has been caught" (c) It seems like it's from "Xena," but it's accurate.

Well, I imagine immortality not as freezing time, but as not knowing old age as a physical and moral concept!
Like elves, or something? They hardly have any children!
Жаль, не лебедь я...

They don't die of old age, they are eternally young, etc. Although they can be killed. But they have almost no children - that's the balance.
We are not elves!!! And we reproduce like rabbits – what’s the point of forbidding it?!
Well, look at that. So, what are we talking about immortality for?
Жаль, не лебедь я...
