Congratulations to everyone on this religious holiday...

I won't make too many wishes, but I hope that at least 1/3 of what I wished for on New Year's comes true... otherwise, it feels like it was all for nothing... I even wrote a list of wishes, burned it, and choked on the ashes with champagne at the end (and definitely not the other way around) :cool: Good luck and health :smile01:

Merry Christmas. Even though it's supposed to be celebrated on December 25th, happy holidays anyway!

December 25th is celebrated by Catholics, and today is Christmas according to the Orthodox calendar. Congratulations to everyone!

December 25th used to be celebrated by everyone until the Russian Orthodox Church had a falling out with the Bolsheviks. When they shifted the calendar by 13 days, the Russian Orthodox Church didn't move its holidays. That's when the discrepancies started. But regardless, happy holidays!!!! Happiness, good luck, and love to all!!!!!!!

However, if you look at the root of the matter, it is celebrated more accurately in Russia, because January 7th is December 26th according to the Julian calendar. When the year was shifted, Catholics switched to the Gregorian calendar, while Orthodox Christians remained with the Julian calendar. How Protestants celebrate it – I don’t know, but I think they celebrate it the same way as Catholics.

Regarding the celebration – this is a matter of the calendar. Before Pope Gregory XIII, there was the Roman calendar, the Julian calendar. So, according to the Julian calendar, the current January 7th is December 25th. The whole world gradually switched to the Gregorian calendar, while the Orthodox Church remained on the Julian calendar. That's the whole difference. By the way: the Julian calendar, according to scientists, is still more accurate from an astronomical point of view.
