I think the fans of Heroes 5 have already had a chance to try out and evaluate the Dwarf race. This topic is dedicated to discussing the heroes of this race: who did you like and why? :) Personally, I really liked the hero Inga - a female Dwarf. Today, I'm playing on the multiplayer map "Former Friends" as Necromancers. The computer has taken control of the other three cities under a common banner. Among these cities is, of course, a Dwarf city. So, I hire Inga in my tavern, somehow gather an army for her from the joined neutral Dwarf units, and let her run around to gain experience. Inga's special feature is that she can sometimes independently acquire knowledge of using runes. And only after Inga independently acquired a couple of runes, I took the Dwarf city from the computer and sent her there. Usually, a Dwarf hero can only use the runes that the city provides, and there are usually only five of them out of the entire assortment. And imagine my surprise when, after replenishing her army in her home city, Inga used not only the city runes but also the ones she had acquired before visiting the city! Thus, the Dwarf units under Inga's command could use not 5 but 7 different runes! It turned out to be very interesting! :smile02: Let's discuss the Dwarf heroes! :)

I also really liked the Dwarves. When I played Fortress for the first time, I chose the first hero I saw – and that lucky guy turned out to be Brand (this was back when there were no new skill trees or new fan-made Manuals). I liked that I could fully control the hero's development myself. He has all skills available, except, of course, the racial one. Ingvar is a very interesting hero. Not only does he give +1 to Warriors, but he also increases their health by +1 for every five levels! And that's not even the main thing! This hero has "Defense" and "Resilience" skills maxed out. If anyone doesn't know, the chance of "Defense" appearing each time you level up for Dwarves is only 2%! In my opinion, this hero is a good choice for playing against Karl. I read an article on the forum called "Karl, my favorite Dwarf." Alex Ghost, is that your article by any chance? The nicknames are very similar. Regarding Inga, I have serious doubts... In practice, I only use Berserker, Energy, and Resurrection runes (usually in the final battle). I find them anyway. P.S. My choice is Ingvar. After all, the main strength of the Dwarves lies in their impenetrable defense, and therefore Ingvar is the best choice. It's better not to rely on luck and think that "Defense" will appear on its own.

You can also get runes in neutral buildings on the map. But I prefer Ingvar

Which neutral buildings are you referring to? Are they treasure vaults or something else?

No, on the maps there are buildings, like magic shrines. They give you a free rune. It's a small building that looks like a skill-forgetting shop in WOG. It mainly resides underground.

I also liked Brand; I leveled him up to have an ultimate ability with 4 skills at level 29.

Everyone has their favorite hero for each faction, the hero you start playing with... I, my friends, choose Karli or Ibba. The answer is this: I take Karli, and my javelin throwers become much stronger and more resilient thanks to the hero's specialization, because otherwise they are weak. The question of quantity doesn't matter; you usually recruit a lot of them, the main thing is not to lose them in every battle. The same applies to Ibba and her bear riders; they become capable of doing something other than just having the bear swipe with its paw...:smile01:
Yes, I agree that you don't always find the right rune in the Tower of Magic, and there's nothing you can do about it. There's no chance of finding a building with a rune (to learn it) if the map editors didn't place one... and what should you do? Use the set of runes given to the poor gnome... or should you choose Inga at the beginning of the game? No, we do this: we take the Education skill, develop it to Mentorship, and, lo and behold, it's not difficult to find a hero in the tavern; there aren't that many for each faction. We buy Inga, approach this lady, and she learns on her own, but this is only if you have experience, of course. She will teach you a couple of runes herself because she has the Scholar skill; she was created for this, so to speak, she learned it, didn't keep it to herself, and passed it on to another. Well done.
In the same way, we find Ingvar in the tavern, teach him with Mentorship, and everything else we have on hand, and we put him in the Castle. Where, if not there, is he really needed with his abilities + the garrison that provides a great number of troops...:smile44:
But I disagree with you about the Defense skill. No matter how many times I play, the skill appears and will continue to appear. I don't rely on luck. I get Defense and develop it into Readiness... IMHO, everyone will envy this. If you're not in a hurry, stand on defense, and the enemy will come to you and get beaten... in general, it's a great skill.
But the Attack skill appears much less often than Defense, no matter what they write in the skill tree... Here, Ibba and her tactics are needed, and as I already said, the bears will at least become weapons...

And if there was a hero for the Berserkers... I would choose him; the developers missed the opportunity to create him, and that's a pity...:smile20:

Hehe, Ibby has the most beautiful avatar in the game... they should make a model like that :).
By the way, is there any way to create your own hero, or at least replace the hero model? Is there some kind of program for that?
I really like the models of Wulfstan and Rulf (from the word "wheel" lol:).

Personally, I prefer Ingvar and Inga. Inga for her runes, and Ingvar for his warriors. I don't have anything else to add; everything has already been said.

I completely agree with Varg-Nar and support his scientifically sound approach:c Karl transforms already decent Dwarves into some kind of terminators!!!

Now I'm placing Ingvar in the castle as a defender,
I haven't decided who will be the attacker yet.

This is undoubtedly Ingvar; the warriors become beasts in his hands. :smile49:

Inga is the best hero for playing on large maps (she learns runes without needing to return to the city + she gets education from the very beginning + it's easier to develop mentorship, and that's just AMAZING) or on those where there are few Dwarf cities, and therefore you can learn a few runes. Ingvar is the best on small maps and for defending a city. Helmar is very good - sometimes I make him the main hero instead of Inga, because you can immediately develop mass acceleration. P.S. - to the honorable Dwarf, KING OF BLOOD: the best avatar is for Sveyya (or is her name different:eek:? well, the mistress of storms:)); and the hero model would really be better if it were replaced with Wulfenthan:)
