An entire expansion was released about Sandro, detailing how he was the cause of all the troubles. He outsmarted the heroes, collected artifacts, and ruled the Necropolis state (controlling Vilmar), and so on. In short, Markel was based on Sandro, but they are both good characters... Yeah, that's true. The developers of the fifth installment of Heroes of Might and Magic really messed things up compared to the third game. The image of Markel is simply shamelessly copied from Sandro, just like the image of Isabel is copied from Catherine (and it's not very successful).
