I read the entire thread (and didn't even get lazy!) and downloaded several works by the group being discussed here. I listened to them. My impression is mixed: Tarja Turunen is, of course, not Montserrat Caballé, but she also sings quite well. However, in my opinion, her vocals don't quite fit with the music played by the rest of the band. And in this regard, Anette Olzon's voice sounds better (or is more pleasant, I don't know). IMHO.
I don't argue. But after listening to 7 songs from different years, I still prefer Nightwish with A. Olsson. I need to listen to the rest of Nightwish's songs and listen to some of Tarja Turunen's solo works.
From now on, Tarja Turunen is no longer the only former vocalist of the Finnish band Nightwish. The band decided to part ways with Anette Olzon, who joined the band in 2007 and recorded two full-length albums with them.
As a reminder, before leaving, Anette fell ill and was hospitalized, as a result of which she was replaced at a concert in Denver by two other vocalists - Elize Ryd from Amaranthe and Alissa White-Gluz from The Agonist. Olzon herself did not appreciate this "reshuffle," after which the band and the vocalist parted ways amicably.
The vocalist's departure will not affect the band's future performances. Dark-World has some more detailed information. However, I don't really believe that everything is exactly as it is. We once made a top list of the sexiest metal vocalists, and Nightwish took the first two places. I don't remember who was first, Anette or Tarja. By the way, I like the latter more in this regard.
Although, I know, Duff McKagan... Ganse, right?

Anette sings well in general. It's just that on Dark Passion Play from 2007, the music wasn't tailored to her vocals, but on Imaginaerum, she sang quite harmoniously with the music. She sings well, but it's a matter of taste, as Kosha says.
