I watched Lost Highway. After watching it, I realized that the title probably shouldn't be translated. But it should definitely be watched!
And then I watched "Hotel Room." The film consists of three short stories. The second short story is truly magnificent (it seems to be called "How to Get Rid of Robert" or something like that). I won't tell you more details; I'll just say that it's one of the best works I've ever seen.

I've only seen Dune by Lynch. It's an amazing film. It's a shame that it was heavily cut (I saw some bonus footage that didn't make it into the film - respect to David). It's a shame that this film wasn't well-received at the time. After all, Lynch turned down the opportunity to direct Star Wars for it! But I watched this film because I'm a huge fan of Frank Herbert and his Dune. All other Dune films are pale imitations compared to Lynch's film!

I really wanted to watch Twin Peaks, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe someone could briefly tell me the plot?

:) When you manage to watch it, you will realize that a brief summary of the plot would fit into about two small paragraphs... But how David Lynch played this out in his cult film, how he conveyed the psychology of the characters and their relationships, cannot be expressed in words... And not to mention the music in the series alone...

As for the question itself: a mystical detective story investigating the murder of a girl in a remote town on the border of the USA and Canada... which turns into a struggle against eternal universal evil (in the style of Stephen King, if you have read his works or seen their adaptations)...

Well, and Agent Cooper is already a whole brand!

There's a miniseries, Children of Dune, in three episodes. The plot follows the book quite closely, and it also covers Messiah of Dune. But the acting didn't inspire me. Yes, it's close to the text, but it can't compare to Lynch's film. There's also a Dune series, but I haven't seen it. Do you know when they will finally translate all the books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson about Dune?

Lynch's film was named the best "Dune" (I mean, the movie adaptations), and that's where the debate about it can end:)

Regarding Dune, I'm not up to date (to be honest, the last book in the series I know is "House of Atreides"). I watched the series – it's above average, but nothing outstanding.

I'm really looking forward to the Russian translation of "Crusade against the Machines" and "Battle of Corrin." They promised to release it by August, but... Anyway, I think Dune is the most outstanding literary work of all time. It has such great ideas. And Lynch managed to capture the spirit of the book in his film. Thank him for that.

I attended the premiere of Lynch's new film, "Inland Empire," on Friday, April 20th.
I'll say right away that the film had subtitles and the original audio, so the perception of the same film with simultaneous translation might be significantly different.
Since I don't really speak English or Polish well enough to freely understand the film, I will still base my opinion on the subtitles.
First of all, the film, like many of Lynch's previous works, has excellent music. Judging by the style, it's probably Badalamenti again; those who are interested can check it online.
The film itself leaves a rather contradictory impression. On the one hand, there's a feeling that Hollywood and its personalities are getting on Lynch's nerves.
On the other hand, the film isn't bad either.
Let's just say: the film is very "Lynchian." It's something between "Mulholland Drive" and "Twin Peaks."
I can only recommend watching it to those who really like what Lynch does. Because if this were the first Lynch film I had seen, I would have understood even less (and, in principle, I didn't understand the film anyway:))), and secondly, I probably wouldn't have wanted to watch other films by the same director.
That's the gist of it.

and how are things with the special effects? after all, Dennis Muren was supposed to be in charge of them.

Special effects? There are elements reminiscent of Twin Peaks, of Lost Highway... Essentially, these are special effects, but not quite in the same way as in some "action" movies...

I only read Twin Peaks... I really liked the book and the author's style...
