I haven't even finished reading the post, and I'm already asking – why is the alliance between the city and the mafia a winning strategy? As Neyra aptly pointed out, they could have made peace even before the game started, and it would have been a complete happy ending.
Ah, you've already answered. Well, too bad. I was hoping we could have a discussion.

Silverfail, if you want to hear my opinion, let's connect via private message.
There are things I don't want to discuss on the forum. Because I'm not a fan of arguments and have always encouraged everyone to live in peace and harmony.
And such an argument could easily start. I wouldn't want to bring up an old topic.

You say that everyone has their own point of view, so express yours, say why it's a "win." What's so difficult about that?

Because that was the win, in the sense of "victory." One turn – and that was it, the entire game was over for you, and you couldn't stop it.
The fact that it all ended in a rather dull draw, of course, disappointed me. I would have liked to see a final showdown between the surviving city dwellers and the crazies.
Although Hostor was right, the plot was indeed beautiful... But no matter how much I love interesting settings, for me, Mafia is primarily about gameplay.

Because I'm not a fan of arguments and have always encouraged everyone to live in peace and harmony.

Ah, now it's clear why you're advocating for a truce!

Guys, we've got a hippie in the thread.

Molden, I'm against a draw. But the move to unite against a common enemy was a good one.

My friends and I downed two bottles of vodka and headed to the garages. We turned on some R&B in an old Lada and were just chilling when we saw two high school kids, maybe 17 years old, walking by. We approached them and said, "Give us your phones." Then, we just beat them up, took their phones, and walked away. It was a perfect operation. All sorts of excuses like "plot," "honor," and "victory" sound so funny, especially considering that most people understand that this is the most boring thing they could have come up with. A game where Gil showed all his POTENTIAL, all his "honor," and impartiality, yes, WIN, definitely. And not just Gil.

The move of uniting against a common enemy was a strong one.

It was quite simple; the essence lies in the fact that no one had suggested such ideas before, as the gameplay doesn't encourage it.
But I'm probably repeating myself. I'm sure I've already written something similar in those hundred posts during the game.

[conspiracytheory]I have a feeling that this whole idea about the alliance and the "beautiful" ending was conceived even before the mafia game itself began.[/conspiracytheory]

But the move to unite against a common enemy was a strong one.

The Mafia's goal is to maintain its role in secrecy and, through cunning/underhanded tactics, defeat its enemies. Not to wage "open" war against another faction. The whole essence of the Mafia, excuse my expression, is lost.

So, it seems we couldn't avoid a conflict... -___-
Vistrit, I'm not talking about the plot or honor. I'm talking about the principle that "my enemy's enemy is my friend" also applies here.
Plesen, and no one was hiding their intentions, you see.

Toxic, an enemy of my enemy, is simultaneously my enemy, and therefore cannot be my friend, even though he is an enemy of my enemy. Is this such a difficult axiom to grasp?

Toxic, an enemy of my enemy, is simultaneously my enemy, so he cannot be my friend.

Although the trick was indeed underhanded towards the group of doctors, overall, if one side later betrayed the other, I would consider it to be more or less acceptable. After all, the entire game is built on treachery and deceit, so how is one better or worse than the other?
Toxic, call me Siever and don't hesitate to publicly defend your beliefs, because you shouldn't go to extremes – such as fanatical belief in your own righteousness, or refusing to speak and discuss your thoughts at all. As the song says: "Defending your views is the first step towards self-discovery."

I know that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" only works for a certain amount of time. I honestly expected betrayal. And that's why I share Morning's sarcasm when he said that "the ending is a ten out of ten, oh my god, ten out of ten."
Although, again, if you consider the mafia as a literary work, then everything ended very well, don't you agree?

Siever, you couldn't get away with it. X) Now I'm defending it.

The best endings are when the doctors or the lunatics win. Otherwise, it's quite disappointing. Neither fish nor fowl.

I was also hoping they would betray us; that would have been a great outcome.
