I had an idea to create a thread where everyone can write about the fact that they will temporarily stop playing Heroes and for how long they will take a break. I've been thinking about this for a long time and decided that it's time! I'll start.

Personally, I have firmly decided that in 2012 I will take a break. Quitting Heroes is as difficult as quitting smoking, so in order not to be tempted to start playing again during the year, especially if some interesting tournament appears, I decided to make it official so that everyone can see it and there is no turning back. In Russia, it has already become a tradition to take a break before the New Year, so let's not break it. So:

I, Pyotenev Konstantin Viktorovich, born on August 27, 1985, aka Dirty_Player, officially declare that from January 1, 2012, to January 1, 2013, I will not play Heroes of Might and Magic III and its mods online. In case of breaking my promise, I undertake to organize a tournament with a prize pool of $1000.

playing once a month still doesn't interfere with anyone's life, but if you want to play more often, much more often, and can't stop, then it really is an addiction, and it needs to be treated :)

A bad example is contagious :D. I'm already waiting for a wave of reactions, as someone else will want to do the same :D :D :D.

Honestly, I didn't think you would do something like that. Let me explain, you're already in the "inactive" group for games in my contact list, and now you're leaving, trying to quit, like some kind of hardcore gamer :D. I'm surprised, to say the least:rolleyes:.

However, if someone is constantly telling you that the game is very important to you, that you spend too much time on it, that nothing else interests you, etc., :D then you can easily start believing it yourself:D.

However, in my personal opinion, you should just look at how many times a month/week you dedicate time to the game. If this number is reasonable and ranges from a few times a month to a few times a week, IMHO, there's nothing wrong with that. But if it's already 30 games a month, then it's worth thinking about... Although, again, it's important how much free time a person can dedicate to the game; if they have a lot of it, why not???

I used to worry about similar questions, and I realized that I wouldn't even consider doing something like that. The main thing is to find harmony in all of this. Between non-stop hardcore gaming and just having fun.
