The map version doesn't match the game version. Check it.

Using the H4ResEx 1.4a utility, I extracted maps from all parts of Heroes 4. However, there's an issue: the campaign maps from "The Gathering Storm" cannot be opened with any campaign editor, and when I tried to run them in the game as regular maps, the game doesn't recognize them. The campaign maps from the original Heroes 4 also couldn't be opened on one computer, but on another, they opened without any problems. The campaign maps from "Winds of War" open without any issues. The games (3 versions - 2.0 patch, 2.2, 3.0 + expansion 3.51) were from a single disc from Buka, and while they wouldn't install on another computer, they could be simply copied over and have been working for several years.

You need to visit all the oracles on the map, and then they will reveal the location of the treasure (as if it were the Holy Grail).

Click on the red flag on the right; this opens the options menu. There is an option called "dig up treasure." Click it when the hero is standing on the spot marked with a cross and has a full movement allowance (this is mandatory).

Downloaded Heroes 4 with Alexander today, but the mod isn't for me. However, I found 2 interesting maps, and haven't looked at the others yet. They are called "Russian Guy" and "Big Adventure." In the "Dungeons and Dragons" expansion, there's a third campaign for the Necropolis faction. And there's a problem there – in the second episode, my castle is surrounded by mountains, and I can't move at all, except for a lumber mill nearby. Of course, I captured it, but after that, there's nowhere to go; the mountains prevent me from moving across the map. There are no quests available.

"Expansions" like "Dungeons & Dragons" and "Alexander" are full of similar bugs, so nothing surprising. I can only sympathize and, as advice, suggest checking the editor.
