I would refrain from making such bold statements: eleven of these other games belong to a different genre, which makes comparing their Gameplay with Heroes 3 incorrect.

Why are you so fixated on the third Heroes game? Besides it, there are 15 other games in the old universe.

1. The creators of the game, in one way or another, are drawing on the world of Might and Magic V in Might and Magic VI.
2. Might and Magic V is the most similar to Might and Magic III.
3. It's no secret that the third and fifth games are the most popular in the Heroes community. Moreover, the audiences are different, including in terms of age.

Conclusion: the idea of playing on nostalgic feelings and somehow uniting fans of the game doesn't seem out of place.

It's quite strange to compare the gameplay of Heroes III and, for example, Might and Magic IV.
