It's simpler than that. The rules are the rules, but a coin is tossed when someone actually disappears and there's no news from them. If the players agree and inform the organizer that they will be able to play a couple of days later, I don't see any obstacles.

If all organizers strictly adhered to the regulations, tournament attendance would be significantly lower. Therefore, in scheduling matters, it is considered normal for the organizer to accommodate the players. Personally, I don't see a problem with waiting a few days, or even a week, especially if many are late. But I do see a problem with allocating time for the game; real life tends to introduce adjustments in this matter.

So, guys, let's calm down a bit. There's an organizer for the tournament, which is me, and the organizer decides on issues and has the right to make any changes to the rules, including deadlines.

8 out of 25 pairs didn't meet the deadline for round 2. That's quite a lot, so the decision was made to extend the round. Many agreed on a specific day, and I don't see any reason not to extend it by a few days. Besides, I've already drawn the pairings for those who are eager to fight.

Regarding the arguing. Let's try to avoid it. We're playing Heroes, not CS, so we need to communicate respectfully. If you really want to prove to your opponent that they're wrong and settle things, do it via PM or ICQ.

As an alternative, could you switch the pairings so that those who can play face each other, and those who can't play yet face each other, but only later?

They didn't interfere with each other; Gundula was luckier – she found a hidden stash of birds and bears in the castle on the first map, her home computer and home village with birds on the second, and bears near the computer and in the village on the third. The problem was finding the first Utopia; there were 3 villages on the second map, meaning 3 potential exits to the third map, but one of the third maps was empty, and the other two were very far away. In Heroes of Might and Magic 5, resources are scarce for rebuilding, so I decided that building a portal was more realistic and headed to the third map that was closer, on foot. The Utopia was eventually found, but I only reached it on turn 141; they gave me a helmet, and things picked up after that. By the end of the game, I had about 11 castles, including Kaitlin's starting castle with archers, but no final castle.

for a long time couldn't figure out the directions :o ended up staying to clear the treasure zone, there was a bunch of Dragon Fly Hives and 3 Dragon Utopias turned out to be, but it didn't save me

In the second game, I fend off several artifacts (+2 to speed, shield +3, etc.), and skirmishes with the opponent begin near the village-rampart. As a result, I manage to take it by the end of the week and drive away the horses. Fiona, with expert scouting, rushes towards the opponent, while Merista, with a couple of horses, paints the hidden stash of red dragons and climbs into the treasure.
