I recently talked to a Chinese acquaintance who plays Heroes and found out that they have a program for recording game replays. It can: record the moves of heroes - both yours and your opponents', as well as record battles. Basically, this is its advantage over the tool on the heroeswt.net website. I have 2 versions of this program - broken link and broken link. Only the first, older version works on my computer. According to the Chinese, the second version probably doesn't work because of the fonts; they say you need to install Chinese fonts. You need to unzip the programs into any folder, click on the shortcut with the blue cloak, and specify the location of the Heroes shortcut. Then, click on the lower left button to launch the game in this program's mode. Now you can play, record, and load recorded games. To do this, after the game starts, press F9 - a window will appear with a choice of recording name; after that, the game will be recorded, and you can stop the recording by pressing F12. You can view the recordings by pressing the F11 button and selecting them from the replays folder. Version 0725 of the program creates the MyMovie and MyRecord folders in the C:\ directory, and the games are saved there. There is no English version of this program, so if someone could figure it out, translate it, and maybe even improve it, or even better, integrate it into the WOG (Widow of the Grove) - that would be great. Is it compatible with WT, or only SoD?

A Chinese player tested it with the Warlord of Terror expansion – he said that some errors occur. It needs to be refined for Warlord of Terror...

And what is the size of the replay file?

Judging by the replays from the Chinese forum, the file size is up to two megabytes.

That's really cool. It seems my dream has come true :) I have some questions:
1. What happens if you watch a replay in an online game?
2. As I understand it, the replay is in gm1 format, meaning it's loaded as a save file?

It seems the archive in the first link is corrupted... I've downloaded it several times and :smile53:, it ends unexpectedly :cool:

The first link leads to a broken archive, and the second program doesn't run on Windows 7 (even in compatibility mode with XP). I uploaded this program a long time ago, when we had a tournament with the Chinese! It includes a feature to transfer armies/artifacts with a single button – if anyone finds my explanation, I'd be grateful, as the program's description is somewhere deep in my old AIM history archives. Let those who are interested look for the posts. That program adds a lot of letters and hieroglyphs to the game, making it difficult to play. I wanted to communicate more closely with its programmer to translate everything into English, but then we came up with the idea of a lighter version that implemented the main functions of the Chinese program (exchange of troops/artifacts). Recording videos was just an addition – it didn't really interest anyone.
And the program I have is the first one, the one that Sticky had with the corrupted archive.

I can see Chinese characters displayed correctly on my computer, so it's unlikely to be a font issue.

Basically, the Chinese fonts should be the default on the computer, instead of Russian or English fonts, for example. In any case, everything works fine for the Chinese. Ideally, the program should be translated into Russian and English.
