There's no need to cancel anything. Just randomly pair up players as they register. Pair these two guys with each other, and everything will be fine.

Strict brackets, like in a double-elimination tournament, aren't very suitable for hero tournaments; I've run into this myself many times. People like to register late, matches tend to drag on, and someone might drop out at any moment.

Let me explain my position on this. I want to do everything properly from the start. If it's an Olympic-style tournament, we need to create a bracket right away, so it's fair and balanced. I don't like adding or improvising things on the fly. That's why I wanted to make it for 32 people, to avoid problems with byes and so on. There are also drawbacks to drawing the bracket after registration. For example, if 46 people sign up, that means 28 should play, and 18 should advance to the second round without playing. If you pair people up based on the order of late registration, it turns out that all 48 people will play in the first round, and 23 people will be in the second round. As a result, someone will have to be skipped in the second round without playing. I really don't want to deal with that hassle.

Since I've already said A, I should probably say B. I'll post the bracket a little later, but those who register later will have to wait for their opponents. The bracket will be finalized after registration closes.

Gundula after Tyras is, of course, a real piece of work... the combat mechanics are the same, but the weight of the broadside is depressing.
