Posts from HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.Auto-translated
There is another, simpler way. I've suggested it 100500 or 100600 times, but it hasn't been implemented. The idea is this: when generating a map, each player is asked to enter a password. When loading a save, each player is required to enter a password. If any part of the password is not entered, the save will not load. That's it. No other anti-cheat measures are needed.
I've had this idea in mind for a long time, but I haven't had the time or the mental capacity to implement it yet.

Are there any specific problems, or is it just that no one has taken on the task or knows how to do it?
P.S. Can anyone give me a link to a free C++ compiler?
I'm making an HD mod for Visual C++ 2008 Express. Here's a link to 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/#2010-All You choose the language, download the 1.8 GB DVD image. Or you can click on Visual C++ 2010 Express, but the online installation isn't very convenient.
1. The ability to configure starting resources. 2. Setting the timer so that time does not tick until the "End Turn" button is pressed. This is relevant since turns can drag on for up to half an hour.
Other things, like 3-5 minute turns, are very secondary. Fixing original bugs could also be made into a separate module because that is definitely a change to the original gameplay. And what is this even about?
HoMM3 HD ... fixes several gameplay bugs from the original game: * all supported versions * optional
1) bug with selling artifacts at an inflated price, 2) "not me" bugs, which allow you to get 'extra' information about the opponent in a multiplayer game. 3) bug with the "camouflage" spell, due to which the spell did not make sense to use for the first player in a multiplayer game. 4) Automatic correction of the consequences of such bugs as: - the appearance of a hero's shadow on the map - hero duplication - city turning gray - one hero is controlled by two players - in the tavern, you can hire a hero who has already been hired by someone else
the effect of camouflage has been changed, it is no longer possible to spy on the opponent, the sale of artifacts has been changed. naturally, this changes the gameplay. as I understand it, no one here uses the option to fix bugs, except perhaps to fix saves. cheating with artifacts is already impossible, camouflage is useless to anyone, and spying is an integral part of the gameplay, right?
baratorch, regarding the anti-cheat system. In Heroes 4, there's exactly what Dirty was talking about – at the beginning of the game, a password is entered, and without knowing two passwords, you can't load the game. I think we could try to borrow that scheme from there.
to baratorch, regarding the bug with Jaegar. Yes, he was with the Red player and spent the night in the field. They loaded and unloaded several times. The Red player didn't immediately notice the bug and can't pinpoint exactly when it occurred. It was a game against the AI, and during the turn transfer, the heroes flickered with a different color. By the way, another bug. We've already talked about it. It also happens in SoD. But with the mod, it seems to happen much more often. This is when, on the map during the opponent's turn, your hero disappears, often the main hero or the one with the bag (as if they put on an invisibility cloak). The hero remains in the list on the panel. And it's interesting, does he also disappear for the opponent? Regarding the complete transfer of the army, perhaps it would be better with a selection of the desired unit. And also, maybe make it a hybrid with intelligent transfer. That is, if you want to leave the fastest and cheapest unit (taking into account the terrain), you simply transfer, and if you want to leave a specific unit, you select it. Although this might be confusing. And the transfer itself - with a key or the mouse... For example, you could assign a button from the top number pad, where the number corresponds to the stack number with the preferred unit, or explicitly select the desired stack with the mouse, and the transfer itself is done with a key.

Again... some have sulfur in their nagabank, and others have dragonstones. People don't really complain about this bug, including the fixed one. The basilisks that Bron has at the start also suit everyone. At higher starting speeds for Gem, Ivora, Moner... they also don't focus on it. Since it exists, they just accept it.
Oelm, couldn't you at least write the password for the archive in a private message?
As it is, I don't have the time. I would work on this save, but not to save your game (because of the time it would take), but for research, to determine the causes, so that we can take them into account in HDMod.
Could you help with a bug (since it's a tournament game, please keep the details brief)?
The game crashes when passing the turn to the orange player.
If the game is important, you could use the standard method of getting help from a third party.

I don't have time right now. I would work on this save, but not to save your game (because of time), but for research, to determine the causes, and to take them into account in HDMod.
There are probably still some minor issues, but still, thank you very much for the mod: healing the silver creatures saved a lot of time and nerves in the club tournament.
The password was, of course, in a private message; due to the issues with the messaging system, a draft was sent instead, and I corrected it.
I still hope that, as someone who made a small contribution to the project, I have the right to expect a modest amount of attention from the author. As he himself pointed out, fixing the project's bugs is important both for him and for the players.
Regarding the save file, I posted it here only after I had exhausted all other options.
There, the orange player has one phantom hero, Geon – he’s on the panel, but not on the map. I loaded it into multiplayer – I can’t kill him or dismiss him. By the way, I didn’t realize before how to load multiplayer: that is, how to load the game in TCP/IP for multiple players on one computer. And now I launched 5 games, in the first one, there was a host, and the other games joined this network. So, it turned out to be a full-fledged emulation of an online multiplayer game for five players.
In the WT+HD version, the class submenu (when pressing Ctrl+click on a hero) only appears for the first 5 heroes in the list. This means it's impossible to use classes with heroes 6-8. Is it possible to fix this?
Is it possible to disable the automatic switching to the hero you are sending troops to (as in WT and SoD), or at least make this an optional feature? It's very unusual.
1) This is a question for the te-wt script writers (I am not one of them). Although I even know where to look: script02.erm. The script is based on the fact that there are 5 clickable hero portraits with numbers 39 - 43 and 5 clickable city icons with numbers 32 - 36 in the game. But in HD, there are 8 hero portraits with numbers 39 - 46 and 7 city icons with numbers 23 - 29. This makes it clear why ctrl-click only works on the first five heroes and doesn't work on any of the cities.
2) It is possible. HiRezData\HiRez.ini parameter #8

You can open the hero window and Ctrl-click on the portrait; the same menu will appear.
