In the third game, we had some really intense battles... but compared to the fifth, it felt like a playground.

So, we started playing the fifth game, and we didn't understand anything. We were looking for similarities with the third game, trying to do things similarly, but the computer on easy difficulty was still too tough. We made it harder, and we got completely crushed.

I preferred playing as the Elves, but nothing worked. I couldn't even beat the computer on the easiest setting...

What's the secret to this fifth game? It feels too complicated. Are there any guides or tips on how to master the tactics in Heroes of Might and Magic V?

We start, we develop, everything seems to be going well, then the computer attacks with a much stronger army and almost wipes us out. Okay, we defended, but then he attacks again with a second army and finishes us off.

The AI in Heroes of Might and Magic V cheats. Literally. This is done to compensate for the weak AI. All I can advise is to study the faction's features: in this case, the Elves. There is a lot written about this in this section: how to start, which heroes to choose, and so on. Read it.

You place it in My Documents\My Games\Heroes of...\Profiles[profile name]\Replays.

I created a map within the game, and I want to edit it so that it can be played in teams. However, when I save the changes in the editor, it says that the map won't be playable online and that it can't be selected afterward. :( What should I do? What's the solution? My friend and I want to play together against the AI.

Okay. Well, the map is visible, and you can play it on one computer without any problems. As for playing it over a network, I'm not sure... Most likely, you'll be able to start the game, and it will run, but when you try to load it after a break, an error will be generated. But I can't say for sure.

Here, try this. Open the map archive with WinRAR. Go through the directories to the very end. In the map-tag.xdb file, change the CustomGameMap parameter from true to false. Then, in theory, all its differences from a brand-new map that hasn't been edited in the editor will disappear. Except for the commands, of course.

It doesn't appear in the list of maps...

What the heck is going on?

In the same file, try changing the RandomMap parameter to true as well. It displays for me.

Oh, darn it, these tags! I was enclosing the parameter name in angle brackets, like in the xdb file, and didn't notice that they weren't displayed. ulgAAA, my apologies.
