Guys, I need your help. Today, I decided to play Heroes 5 for the first time (before that, I only played the single-player campaign), and I don't know all the tactics + what to upgrade and what creatures to buy. So, I want to ask you: in what order should I build the Castle, capture mines, what creatures should I buy, which heroes should I use to defeat neutral creatures, and how should this happen? What skills should I develop for which heroes, which schools of magic, and why? I want to not just follow some scheme, but also understand why and why I'm upgrading in this way, this hero, in this situation.

I don't know much about the game, but I know enough to understand that Necropolis isn't some kind of "über-powerful" faction. I've talked to people on other forums, asked various players, and watched streams, and so far I can't say anything about any "über-powerful" dominance.
As mentioned above, Necromancers are strong in certain situations, and these situations occur very frequently.
Necromancers develop very quickly and arrive at the opponent's location early in the game with a decent army.
And most importantly, Necromancers are strong because of their ability to transform creatures from other factions.
If a Necromancer only has one castle, then they are indeed an underdog. They will be defeated by almost any other faction with a high probability.
But on practically every map, there are at least four castles, and therefore, the Necromancer is always a very serious opponent.
Personally, I dislike facing Necromancers the most. They develop very quickly, eliminate their neighbors, and start accumulating a huge amount of undead. And raising corpses is a very unpleasant thing, especially considering that the Necromancer's ability provides them with an infinite mana supply.
Can I say something? Of course, you can))))) Although no one cares anyway. The Undead are a pretty good faction!!! But trying to elevate it to unprecedented heights would be foolish on your part. Since I'm a Mage, I'll state my arguments, based on my personal experience. Here are its drawbacks: 1) SPEED. The Undead are weak in this regard, and that's a fact. Even dragons don't always reach their target. And this, dear friends, means they get shot down by Titans, Mages, and Goblins + an attack from Rakshasas (who have no counterattack). And the hero himself can add some poison (or fire, debuffs, mines, etc.). 2) INITIATIVE. Mages aren't known for it, but neither are the Undead. Mages have a small trump card up their sleeve – ARTIFACTS. If you take the minimum, you can give each unit one artifact that boosts initiative, and the result will be clear! Voilà! 3) SPELLS. Here, it's a mixed bag. I think everyone understands this. For example, if a Mage gets HOLY WORD, the Undead's chances of winning drop sharply. And a general initiative boost wouldn't hurt either. 4) OVERESTIMATED SELF-WORTH. Dear players, your "awesomeness" will never lead to anything good. All of the above is my personal opinion

Getting swarmed with double stacks of Minotaurs and Phoenixes was much more frightening.

Mages can also pump up their spellcasting skills (education is key), and the Holy Word will mow down everyone. I have nothing against mines either. Especially against Necropolis with their SPEED....
And what about the tactic of taking Zoltan, maxing out his defense, gathering a crowd in one corner, and just sitting there? While occasionally casting Heavenly Shield and Berserk? If he's wearing gear that protects against magic, do you think that's a good tactic, or not?

The Mage has a good counter to this: mass dispel and antimagic spells.

Well, even with an education, the Wizard's magic skills aren't very high. Forgive me, but using Necromancer's mines is really not the best option. It's better to summon a phoenix, fire warriors, phantoms, and cast Heavenly Shields on a Kshatriya Rakshasa, and someone else with a Mage's Mark.
And if a Necromancer plays defensively against a Wizard, that's a 99% chance of defeat. The Wizard needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible, at least because the Wizard has three ranged attackers and a whole lot of different useful spells.
Who will he defeat? And at what stage of the game? The statement about mines versus Necropolis is nonsense because Necropolis has many flying units, and Necromancer mainly plays defensively.
Do you even understand what you're saying? Or are you just making things up. You say there are many flying units? But what will happen when your Necromancer dragon gets stuck on 4 mines? Didn't you think about that? And what about the Holy Word, which doesn't really save your supposedly great defense? If you're so good, post videos of Necropolis defeating Academy, it would be very interesting.
