I see that some people here just want to get something for free and win. Most of the message is directed at Erdem. Maybe you should participate in the "BEST newbie among the WORST newbies" tournament? No "IMHO" needed! IMHO is when someone plays with a bird or another low-level creature (or a hockey player plays soccer with a football player). The tournament name says it all. I only partially agree with your sighs. No one who has played in this tournament before should participate; otherwise, it should be called something else. Those who simply have experience with online games on other platforms (in other words, an experienced online player) should not participate (although even this isn't a reason to exclude a player). Furthermore, regarding skill and abilities: 1. During the time between newbie tournaments, a certain number of players are recorded, and during the time leading up to this tournament, they improve their skills, which they then demonstrate in this tournament. 2. Some players sign up and spend time on who knows what, while others strive to learn, read, ask strong players for advice, apply what they learn, practice, and... consequently, learn more than the first group. 3. And then there are just people who are not teachable. Like using a bamboo fishing rod. You won't catch a clever fish, but if it wants to hang itself, you're in for a feast. 4. In general, the more valuable the victory is, the more participants who meet the tournament's criteria participate in it. Yeah, and I'm kind of a newbie too. But there are such veterans gathered here that I don't want to get knocked out in the first round.. I'd rather just play a season, improve my skill, and next time we'll see who's who!

How are you going to improve your skill by playing against those who are obviously weaker than you? Or were you planning to improve it by playing against Aimann, Sam, and other regulars of the season queue, whom I definitely won't let into the tournament? :) From what I've seen of your reports, you play just as well as many others, there's really nothing to be shy about, I see no reason not to test your strength. It's your choice, of course.

Actually, newbies in Heroes 3(!) is a curious phenomenon in itself :-))

Describing game day 124: Halon takes a chest and a scroll, goes to Stracker (standing near the Dwarf Cottage), on the way kills 34 boars without losses (haste on the skeletons), transfers the army to Stracker, who hits the gogs with a loss of ~14 skeletons, takes the max Dwarf Cottage without losses. Runs down to the capital, doesn't quite reach it. I buy Gunnar in the tavern (38 troglodytes, 4 Evil Eyes, 5 harpies from the start), he takes the troops from Stracker, returns to the capital, converts the troglodytes and zombies into skeletons, upgrades them, buys 11 vampires, transfers all the troops to Geon, who transfers them to Galtran. Total Galtran's army before taking the Griffin Conservatory by stacks: ~220 skeletons, 1 harpy, 15 vampires, 1 harpy, 1 harpy, 4 Evil Eyes, 1 harpy. First round: I haste the skeletons, which hit the top left stack of griffins, ~8 remain, 3 single harpies fly right and hold 3 stacks of griffins and die, vampires hit the top left stack (4 remain), Evil Eyes go down to the bottom left stack and die there, the surviving griffin kills 1 harpy. Every season I say at the very beginning: allow me, the organizers themselves will figure out roughly what level the upper cap is at :)
There simply is no lower cap, but if you lower the upper cap too much - the tournament will lose its meaning and any value whatsoever. It's unlikely that "complete newbies", playing against Stingers, will immediately learn to play better. But playing against other "complete newbies" - they won't learn anything at all, they'll just keep running around with one hero and complaining that the opponent takes a whole 10 minutes (what a cheater!). Why bother if the opponent plays weaker than you.
Nothing stops you from improving - reviewing and analyzing other people's saves, watching VODs, checking out Fizming, etc. Any filowandel can easily become a Neverminder if they want to. And that same Neverminder will help them too :)

And I'm not participating not because I think I've outgrown it, but simply because I don't play in tournaments, that's all.

Participating in a tournament, regardless of its level, means only one thing: gaining valuable gaming experience and a TON of positive EMOTIONS. You shouldn't miss out on signing up for a tournament, but it's your decision. I would gladly participate if I had more free time, and if the tournament organizer allowed it ;)

Alright, let's give the doubters a chance to prove themselves... )) And if I ever feel like I'm missing out on the usual seasonal fun (which offers the same experience and emotions), I'll definitely play some other game, though I won't be a "newbie" anymore. :)
