Posts from Various questions regarding Heroes WOG 3.5.x.
I once saw pictures of the game online. It featured cities from the third installment with improved graphics, new heroes, and generally modified unit icons. I asked a friend if he had such a version of Heroes. Eventually, I managed to get it from him and made a copy…it turned out to be slightly different, but still interesting. Recently, my computer experienced some kind of glitch, and the game stopped launching. I was in a panic…I don’t know how to live now! Please help me find it…it's some sort of upgraded version of In the Wake of Gods. There is an option in the menu (when you choose a map) to edit game parameters. Like – an artifact for each level, a commander's banner at the city, hiring commanders, etc. During battle, you can also select a standard-bearer; there is a commander who has his own skills and artifacts. You can give an artifact (commander's banner) to any unit, improving its skills. Lots of new units like Metamorphoses and Ghosts. But strangely, there are no Gods. The game ran without a disk. Before launch, the maps were modified to the In the Wake of Gods version. PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT!!! I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT. I can't find that friend anymore...I have been playing Heroes since 1999. I hope you understand which version I mean and will be able to help. Sincerely, JAEGAR.
You need to open the main page of HeroesWorld and go to the files section.
Version 3.58. And there is also Tournament Edition, but it is more for tournaments; many things are disabled there, but the balance is better.

I tried... after several attempts (they say the download files are corrupted), something finally installed... a "WOG option" appeared, but it doesn't work, and the picture in the menu remains the "Shadow of Death" one, instead of the "WOG" one it should be after the upgrade... I followed the instructions, what could be wrong?
It's possible that something didn't download correctly.
The installation should start with the English version; the Russian version was initially installed incorrectly for me as well.
I can't help you any further... :(
The expansion seems to have installed incorrectly... all the buttons are there, but they don't work... has anyone else had this problem, and what should I do?
If everything has downloaded, try reinstalling, starting with Shades of Darkness. It's best to use the imported version; the Complete Collection installs very poorly.
Damn... so now do I have to buy the Platinum series for everything to work? I heard that you first need to install one version of WoG... something .37a and then something .38 on top of it, but I installed .38 right away... maybe that's the problem?
You definitely don't need to buy Platinum! If WoG 3.58 is installed — and that is the latest version, with all links pointing to it — then that's all there is to it.
You can, of course, install Tournament Edition on top of it, but those patches are very small, less than 1 Mb.
The installation difficulties are due to the fact that WoG only installs on top of licensed discs, and on top of "licensed discs for Russia only" (like Platinum) it requires certain workarounds. And the Russification is even trickier.
1) First, install SOD (everything is done in a folder with a Latin name).
2) Then, install WOG 3.57 on top of it (it's a paid version).
3) On top of WOG 3.57, install WOG 3.58 (it won't install immediately, of course... there will be a lot of errors and file corruption messages. But after this installation, a WOG 3.58 installation file will appear in the WOG 3.57 folder. Click on it, and WOG 3.58 will install without any problems or errors. Even if you forgot to add the localization files, you can click on the installation file again, and it will install everything, including the localization.)
Everything works for me... but there's one problem. I play, I save, I exit the game, I start again... everything is normal... but as soon as I turn off the computer... after turning it on and trying to launch the game, it says that the HoMM3 file is not a System32 file and will not be launched... I have to reinstall everything from scratch. Maybe I have a virus... besides Heroes, Download Master, Arom Switcher, and CDex (programs) also don't work. So, what's the truth here? Did I install something wrong, or is it really a virus?

Приключения – это сплошные неприятности, только про них почему-то потом интересно вспоминать...
Hey!!! I managed to install everything using trial and error, but there's a problem. Let me explain what I did...

Firstly, if WoG 3.58 is the full version (about 40 Mb), then you can install it directly on top of SoD, not 3.57.
Secondly, it seems that SoD only works for you when the disc is present. In this case, it is best to download patch 3.2 from the files section, which allows you to launch the game without a disc. There might be something wrong with your operating system.
Also, a registry file might be useful for Heroes.
Thirdly, WoGa has its own file for launching the game, h3wog.exe. Launching the game with the heroes3.exe file is not possible for me.
Nooo... 3.58 simply won't install on SoD... It only installs on 3.57, at least for me.... I installed NOD32 antivirus... it found about 400 infected files... I was really tired of cleaning all this up... but now everything seems to be working....
That's very strange!
In any case, I've posted a complete installation guide for WoGa on SoD. It even installs on Platinum with its monstrous bugs and glitches!
Perhaps SoD had some other addon, like a chaos patch...
