Tazar has a very significant advantage in stats. 2. The units are roughly equal in strength. 3. Galtaran has significantly more mana. With this setup, Tazar is obligated to win the battle quickly, while Galtaran, on the contrary, should prolong it into a magical battle, where he has the advantage. That is, Tazar is forced to attack, while Galtaran carefully defends and brings the battle to the endgame. Galtaran's endgame looks like this: elementals participate in the battle, and they all have vulnerabilities and immunities to varying degrees. For example, Galtaran's earth elementals are immune to both lightning and Armageddon, but vulnerable to Shiver (which Tazar doesn't have).
