Karl has quite a few issues with runes. It's not easy to just decide what's better to pair him with different heroes.

But Karl was still stronger there, not by much, but stronger.

More replays. As it turns out, Deleth from version 3.1, who isn't exactly a weak hero, can put up a fight against some. For example, Shaq initially has to deal with Imps, not Devils. And Ravenne rarely manages to do anything against Anwen; in this case, she was lucky with the Vampires. They weren't enemies and spawned almost every turn.

Maybe I'm not entirely right, but for me, Helmar is a very complex character... :(

In general, Helmar is one of the most popular figures on the duel server; it's quite difficult not to play as him, and even harder to play against him. Helmar's counter-hero is Iris; he can fight the others with a good chance of success. I don't like Marbas because of his unpredictability. Hellfire can wipe out half of the opponent's army, or it might only work twice in a battle, and at the wrong time. But overall, he's a very dangerous opponent in skilled hands.
Here are some more replays. In my opinion, even a weakened Nimues is much stronger than Razazak, so this battle seems like a one-sided affair.
Iris defends against Daedra. Kalmaris chose a slightly wrong tactic, and then disconnected, although he could have fought longer.

Currently, there are relatively few strong players left in the anniversary edition, so I often have to play in matchmaking, and it's rare for newcomers to play in random games. The five most frequently played pairs for me turned out to be:
1) The unbeatable pair of Ossir - Iris (in 90% of cases, I play as Iris); I've played this pair more times than all the others combined.
2) Ossir - Helmar (I started playing as Helmar when I got tired of Iris).
3) Helmar - Jalib (as Jalib).
4) Jalib - Dirael (usually as Dirael, although playing as Jalib in this pair is also interesting).
5) Vittorio - Axel (as Axel).

Sinithar is an example of imbalance. When the Tribes of the East were released, it angered many players. Just one of his perks, Lucky Charm, is worth mentioning. But I still find it interesting to play against him. You can highlight several matchups with him: Deidra, Elves, Helmar, Jalib (this matchup is especially popular among both new and experienced players), Razazak (for beginners), Leto, Orcs.

Personally, I don't like the Sylvan faction. It relies too much on luck. For example, a successful Armageddon spell can instantly eliminate many heroes.
I prefer playing with more balanced heroes: Knight, Djinn.

Synitar, like Ossir, is rarely successful and almost always loses. You need to know how to play him. He probably only defeats Haghesh 100%. With the others, it depends on luck. I usually put him against Helmar, and he usually wins. Anti-hero - Ora, almost always defeats him. Interesting battles are with Deidre, Helmar, Orson, Leto, Shaka, Garuna, Jalib, Marbas. Ossir, Razazak, Ib.

Dirael versus Ossir. After looking at the starting lineup, I decided to play. Of course, Ossir made some mistakes, especially regarding the use of magic – Bolivar doesn't often play duels. I also made a few mistakes playing as Dirael, I forgot to open the druid skill, and I killed 2 dryads with the Hive unit for some reason, etc. But still, the result impressed me.

Hmm... I agree about the fire, but I like the combination of spells and defensive bonuses this hero has. As for tactics, I agree that you need to be very skilled at playing as Inferno. I think that at a high level of play, this is one of the strongest opponents against everyone... but these are just words, it would be more interesting to watch good recordings of battles.
