In general, many popular bands today had a difficult start to their careers; becoming a well-known and sought-after rock band isn't easy. For example, Linkin Park (the epitome of a pop band, right?) was rejected several times by their current label, who told them to go and do something else, but not music. And Slipknot didn't become idols overnight; you can read about it on Wikipedia. Maybe, if these bands play music that many people like, it's simply good music, not pop? Pop music is something that's made without soul, churned out like on an assembly line, doesn't carry any meaning, and tomorrow no one will remember the song that is a "hit" today. Or take some "little-known and rare" band, but what if the band is simply talentless and not really needed by anyone? (except for a very small group of ideologists who are against pop music; there will always be some). Should such a band be listened to? In general, in my opinion, you should listen to the music that you simply like, without looking at how many people listen to it; this cannot be an indicator of quality.

My opinion on pop music isn't reflected in the poll :) It's somewhere between "Yes, I only listen to it" and "Well, occasionally, some old stuff."

What an interesting argument. :D But we shouldn't forget that the USSR had a very good pop music scene. It's only in recent years that it has completely degraded... and not just here. And if we're talking about pop music, we need to keep certain periods in mind. Currently, we're seeing a period of its decline, and this can already be described with the rather unflattering word "pop."

In my opinion, there is nothing good about Soviet pop music.

There's nothing good about Soviet-era pop music, IMHO.

During the Soviet era, music wasn't as tied to money as it is now, because the values were completely different, and the entire system was different. Perhaps that's what made it better. Now, they churn out pop music by the ton, all thanks to money and for the sake of money. As for the music itself, it's certainly a matter of taste, or perhaps it appeals to those who grew up with it. I remember starting to use my phone as an MP3 player on buses because I was annoyed by the retro FM radio that the drivers played.

I listen to music of almost all genres (yes, I've said this a million times), and I don't judge others for their preferences. The only exception is that I have an innate aversion to "domestic" music in general.

Combined with my avatar, it looks really funny. By the way, since the first pop artists started appearing in my playlist, I've noticed how drastically the head movements change. But it's understandable - it's all about the rhythm of the music.

I hate pop music. Especially all these Kirkorovs, Bilanovs, and the Factory – all that nonsense. Now, only pensioners watch it, and they don't need anything except their pensions and clowns. But our time will come too.

And what's there to understand? Pop serves pop, advertising, the TV, and the clownery that's on TV. I hate TV and pop. But real electronic music is truly difficult to understand, unless it's pop electronic music. So, I can say the same thing about you in this regard.

The questionnaire clearly expressed everything. I'll add that I only heard domestic music (it's simply impossible not to hear it). My opinion doesn't extend to foreign music due to a lack of knowledge.

I definitely don't like pop music. Specifically, the kind that has absolutely no style of its own: just some hip-hop beats here, three-chord guitar riffs there, and everything cranked up to the max on the drum machine.
