The rules – a single-elimination tournament. One game.
Maybe a double-elimination tournament? More objective, in my opinion. There are a few more games than in a single-elimination tournament... Anyway, I guess we should base it on the number of participants...

So, I understand the goal of the tournament is to motivate those who play a lot. But what happens with the Olympic system? – 1-2 bad games and that’s it? A round-robin or, at worst, a Swiss system would be better.
Another question: who else will be with me as the duty officer? :) What to do? I'll answer: We'll share the responsibilities for the tournament together, provide support in case of real-life issues... Write here or in ICQ...

IMHO, it's better to have 12 people divided into 3 groups, with 1 game per week per group, totaling 3 weeks, and the 4th week is the final for the top 3. This results in a minimum of 3 games, which isn't too much, but also not too little. I can probably substitute sometimes, but I also sometimes have time constraints.
So, we have a quorum... 12 people. If anyone else wants to join, I'll put them on the waiting list in case someone needs to be replaced (if we can quickly gather another group of 6 people, we'll think about it and come up with something with the format, with the consent of ALL participants). I asked everyone, and they all agreed to play once a week, so only those who agree to this schedule can apply to be on the waiting list – we ask the others to actively support us.
All information about the tournament will be updated in the first and second posts. Today, we'll draw the pairings, and the game can begin (some have already started) – the official start of the first round is on **Friday, November 13, 2009** – so in the first round, the evil castles (especially the undead) should be particularly strong... :smile24:

Wlk777 (red, Castle, Valeska) def. Redwhait (blue, Dungeon, Shakti) 2smd4(3) 123 Hmm, they took all the resources +1 as agreed due to the Global Order not being on the way, the distribution was average, 29 marks, not built up, but from the overview, I spotted 2 outposts, the roads are fast, no stables are visible, Valeska was given a log, but the passages to 2 secondary locations are guarded by strong ranged guards, the home base is small and poor, I broke through to the third (snow) through a horde of white centaurs and under 50 black wolves, there I only took a little money and returned home (the week ended). Result: In the second game, I start from the castle with stables, I take a conserve (mini turned out to be), I plan to take a jellyfish lair with 20-40 jellyfish, almost 80 marks are accumulating, but the opponent couldn't max out, as the tournament refused to use autosave, thank you for the game.
Wlk777(red, Castle, Valeska) def Redwhait(blue, Dungeon, Shakti) 2smd4(3) 123 Hmm, took all the rest +1 by agreement due to GO not being on the road, the loot distribution was average, 29 marks, not built up, but from the lookout I spotted 2 external dwellings, roads are fast, no stables visible, Valeska was given logistics, but the passes to 2 secondary zones are guarded by a mile-long ranged guard, the native respawn is a bit small and poor, broke through to the third (snow) through a horde of white centaurs and nearly 50 black wolves, only got a bit of money there and returned home (week ended). Result: On the second week I start from the castle with stables, take the preserve (turned out to be a mini), plan to take the medusa dwelling with 20-40 medusas, marks already reaching almost 80, but the opponent couldn't handle the maxusleis, as the tournament declined an autosave, thank you for the game.
The loot distribution was somehow unclear up top, a bunch of money at 113 for 8 heroes, the only native secondary zone was an external dwelling of minotaurs for 20-49 diamonds, but to break through to it I had to fight 20-49 gr serpents then 100+ centaurs then a block on the passage to the treasure zone of 12 fanatics, wanted to rush on re to the straits but found nothing worthwhile at 115 in the corner of my respawn I find a teleport, send a chain, but it falls short. Result: 1-6 in the fort at home and 1-3 in the secondary zone + market at the start of the second week I buy everyone up, break through 12+7 cyclops, the hive horde of serpents, I risk the max there and basically a loss from hopelessness. Thank you for the game.
