A bit of history. The "Seasons" tournament is special in many ways:
- it is the very first HOMM3 online tournament on our resource. It all began in the spring of 2007.
- it is a tradition for us. This is already the sixth such tournament.
- it is the only tournament for which its own section /forum/section/116/ was created. This time, the tournament thread will be in the general HOMM3 online tournaments section so that it is more visible and easier to find. When the tournament ends, the thread will be moved to other "Seasons".
- it is currently the only tournament of ours played on different fixed maps.
The first organizer was Adelaida. Under her leadership, the first three tournaments were held.
The following two were organized by ewgeniy. Unfortunately, personal circumstances currently prevent Zhenya from spending much time on the forum.

This time, three people are participating in the organization of the tournament. The practice of running a tournament with several leads has already been tested this year and has fully proven its worth. It is always possible to substitute for one another if someone lacks time, it's easier for players to find who to consult about the game, duties can be conveniently divided, the load on each person is lower, decisions are easier to make, and consultations are possible.

Quite a few changes have been made compared to previous tournaments. For various reasons, we started later than planned. The tournament starts in autumn, November 1, and will end in winter, which is reflected in the name. The rules have been quite significantly revised. The set of maps has been changed and expanded. For the first time, there will be maps for playing on TE.

"Seasons"

(autumn-winter 2009)

I. Game Rules.

1. Game versions by priority: SoD 3.2 (4.0), TE-light, TE 1.03q. That is, if one player wants to play on SoD and the other on light or full, the match is played on SoD. In a dispute between light and full, light wins.
When playing on TE, te_fix.dat is loaded instead of te_rnd.dat; in te.ini, you must ensure that roads do not change but remain as they are on the map.

2. Turn time 6 min, can be changed by mutual agreement.

3. Each player has the right to take one restart on the first day of the game during their turn.

4. Games are conducted 1x1, on fixed maps. The file with maps is placed in the second post of this thread. Brief comments on each map are also provided there. Each map has its own game rules.

5. Colors that each player will use in each match are determined by lottery.

6. Map selection is carried out in advance, at least 24 hours before the game, by crossing off from the map list. The blue player must choose the map from the two remaining. Therefore, from the list of 13 maps, the red player starts crossing them off; they cross them off in turn until one map remains. A mandatory condition is that players must first cross off maps on which they have already played within this tournament.
After crossing off the maps, players must familiarize themselves with the rules of play for the selected map.

7. Castle selection. Each player is given the opportunity to choose which town they will play in a specific game, provided that one race can be played only once during the tournament. There will be 9 rounds in the tournament and each player will play all races.

8. After determining the map by crossing off, each player decides which castle they will play and notifies me Pit fof LM (ICQ: 471401475) in ICQ or PM in advance of the game with the map and selected castle. The opponent is notified of the castle immediately before the game.

9. Starting hero selection. The hero is random. The bonus is chosen.

10. The game is played (unless stated otherwise in the rules for a specific map) until one of the human players surrenders or is destroyed. If after a long game (time is determined for each map) no winner is identified, a final battle AKA "the showdown" is appointed. It takes place within the timeframe specified for the map (players may agree among themselves and meet earlier) at the designated location. To avoid questions about whether a particular player reached the showdown spot or not, exact coordinates are given. The first coordinate is the horizontal position, the second is vertical. Two days before the showdown, all battles between players cease; fighting neutral monsters during this time is permitted. Each player puts forward one hero; the one moving second attacks the one moving first. The winner is considered to be the player whose hero remains standing on the map after this; they win the game. If both heroes disappear after the battle, the game continues for another two weeks, after which a new final battle is appointed. In this case, the heroes who participated in the first final battle are considered killed and cannot be hired by anyone during the rest of the game. If a player is late for the final battle and the opponent does not agree to wait, then after the first day of lateness, they must participate in it with at least one empty slot for units and without third-level troops; two days of lateness — with two empty slots and without third and fourth-level troops, and so on. If the seventh level is also dismissed (this happens when late by 5 days), the game is considered lost by the late player. Do not be late for the final battle! But at the same time, do not forget that it is not necessary to wait for it — the opponent can and even should be eliminated earlier. :)

11. Prohibited:
- red-rush (the red player attacking the opponent or any of their objects on the first day of the growth week, born on that day),
- hit-and-run in the first round of battle for the attacker (using combat magic against the opponent and fleeing/paying off in the first round of battle),
- collecting the Necromancer King's cloak is prohibited,
- recruiting monsters is allowed. Diplomacy is prohibited on most maps.
All other prohibitions and restrictions must be familiarized with before the game by studying the second post of the thread. Special attention should be paid to the fact that certain castles, artifacts, and heroes are banned on some maps. They cannot be chosen! Be careful when crossing off.

12. Fair Play. Most importantly: players must play fair and respect each other. Until the end of the game:
- it is prohibited to use cheat codes;
- it is prohibited to use all kinds of "bugs", for example: selling artifacts above their real value, inflating moves using the Admiral's Hat, viewing another player's hero, etc.;
- using any programs, tools, or information through which one can obtain data directly concerning the current game that cannot be known without such programs and tools (such as information about the contents of objects — chests, Dragon Utopia, etc.; the hero's skill development tree, etc.);
- opening saves is prohibited.
Opening the map in the map editor is allowed and even encouraged, both before and during the game.

13. Any changes to the game rules are permitted by mutual consent of the players, except for rule 12 Fair Play.
Also, rule 7 regarding castle selection cannot be changed. All rounds must be played with different races. If a race is repeated (based on the time the report was written), the later game does not count and must be replayed.
A map cannot be repeated if the players together have at least one unplayed map left.
Follow this closely! All info for each participant is updated at the end of this post.

II. Maps.
All information regarding maps must be reviewed in the second post of this thread.

III. Organizational Issues.

1. The tournament is conducted according to the Rules for organization, conduct, and participation in tournaments. All changes introduced there during the tournament will be adopted here as well. Players with a "Black Mark" (ЧМЧ) are not allowed to participate. If any player is given a Black Mark during the tournament, they will be disqualified and their results annulled. The issue of participation for players on the Black List is decided by the Organizers on an individual basis. The issue of participation for players unknown on our forum will also be decided on an individual basis. Leads reserve the right to refuse participation to any player without publicly stating the reasons.

2. Tournament Conduct.
- Leads:
Pit fof LM (ICQ: 471401475) - tournament rules and regulations;
KobRa_RR (ICQ: 286406830) - maps and game rules for them;
Dirty_Player (ICQ: 408722873) - lottery.
You may contact any of us with any questions about the tournament.
- Disputed issues between players are resolved by the leads; disputed issues between players and leads are resolved by the AC (Admin Council).
- Information on the progress of the tournament will be updated on Mondays, more often if possible and necessary.
- All tournament games go into the seasonal rating. Information will be provided to the seasonal rating lead on the 1st-2nd of the month following the same.
- Leads have the right to make any changes to the regulations and rules during the tournament. If a player disagrees with the introduced changes, they have the right to withdraw from the tournament.

3. Regulations.
Stage 1. Two groups of 7 people. Round-robin tournament, 6 rounds. 4 participants from each group advance to the play-offs.
Stage 2. Play-off: 1/4, 1/2 and final. Another 3 rounds.
Total 9 rounds - 9 castles.

For a win in the group stage, 1 point is awarded; for a draw — 0.5 to both; for a loss — 0 points. Games can be played in any sequence. The 4 players who score the most points advance from the group. In case of equal points, the following will be considered: 1. Berger coefficient, 2. head-to-head match. If it is impossible to determine the best by these indicators, a lot will be cast.
For correct calculation of the Berger coeff., those who played fewer than 4 matches in the group will be disqualified and their results annulled.

In the Play-off stage, draws are impossible. In case of a draw, the match is replayed on the same map with the same castles.

For each unplayed round, players must cross off a race. Crossing off a map is not mandatory.

4. Deadlines. Official start of tournament games is November 2. 60 days are given for the group stage — 10 days per game. End of the group stage — December 31, 2009.

5. For each played match, participants must submit a report and confirmation in this thread. Only in this case is the match counted. Reports may be submitted via another tournament participant or to the leads via ICQ.
It is highly desirable to attach saves of matches to reports. Saves of all matches must be kept until the end of the tournament and presented upon first request by the tournament leads or any member of the AC.

6. A participant who has not played a single game by December 1, and is not in contact with the leads and players, will be disqualified, removed from the tournament, and replaced by someone who can play all 6 matches of the group stage within the deadline (during December).
Other Rules for assigning technical results will appear if necessary.

7. The tournament winner will be rewarded with a medal.
ewgeniy promised to personally gift the winner a Hero's T-shirt.

So, here are:

II. Maps.
To see which Castles, heroes, spells and artifacts are allowed on each map, press Ctrl+Enter in the map editor. On most maps, DD and Fly are disabled. +The Diplomacy skill is disabled for Rion, Ciele and Adela, as well as the possibility of any hero obtaining it. +Heroes such as Sir Mullich, Logisticians, Ciele, Luna, and others are disabled. Specialists of 4th-level spell schools and Tanta have had their signature spell replaced with Arrow or Blind. Everything not prohibited by the actual rules stated above is allowed. If you find errors, please report them here or via ICQ #286406830. Restrictions such as the ban on upgrading Conflux dwellings, mandatory hero dismissal upon reaching N level, etc., adopted in random games, do not apply here! If multiple starting colors are available on a map, you must tell the judge in ICQ the colors in order of preference. Based on this, the judge determines the color. We start on 1.11.09. Edited on 2.11.09, changes are marked in red.
On the 7lakes map, the "red" player tells me or another Host via ICQ their preferred color, and the "blue" player tells two colors in order of preference in case of conflict with red.

1). Battle For Glory (first published on www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 160%
A warm-up map. But without a certain amount of luck, the Dragon Utopia cannot be broken before month 1, week 3, day 1. Native secondary towns are the same as the opponent's main Castle. Castle and Conflux are disabled. Diplomacy skill is disabled. But joining monsters is allowed!
Final battle (if needed) - on sand (32,59,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month. Final battle (if needed) - on sand (32,59,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

2). Battlemania (www.toheroes.com). Difficulty 100%
A fun map! The passage between the players is guarded by 10 Black Dragons, which do not grow. On the islands, there are level 7 external dwellings for everyone except Conflux. Diplomacy skill is disabled. But joining monsters is allowed! Final battle (if needed) - under the library (33,37,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

3). Boomerang (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 160%
A classic of the genre! Rampart and Conflux are disabled. In addition to level 6, the central Castle is guarded by 6 Diamond Golems in a Citadel. Diplomacy skill is disabled. But joining monsters is allowed!
Final battle (if needed) - on sand (16,44,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

4). Danzer Zone (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 160%
The map's highlight is the central Castle, which is guarded by a fairly strong mage with a lot of troops! But the reward is royal - the Grail! To the right and left of the Castle, hefty scouts roam with a radius of 8 cells from their location. Be careful and plan your route in advance! :) Native secondary towns are the same as the opponent's main Castle. Be careful with the 4th-level monster under the blue player, and at the red player's Dragon Utopia. :) Clear the water quickly. Diplomacy skill is disabled. But joining monsters is allowed! Final battle (if needed) - on sand (55,65,0) on the 4th day of the 2nd week of the 3rd month.

5). Desert War (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 100% (until I find the original version)
A ToH classic. Necropolis and Conflux are disabled. Native secondary towns are the same as the opponent's main Castle. Diplomacy skill is disabled. But joining monsters is allowed! Final battle (if needed) - on sand (32,38,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

6). Divided Loyalties (rework of Singing Heart) Difficulty 130%.
The very first map of the St. Petersburg championships. Using Hill Forts is allowed! Diplomacy is allowed! Note that you can enter the Crypt twice! The red player enters the head, the blue player enters the feet!! Final battle (if needed) - on sand (40,32,0) on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

7). Hourglass2 (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 130%.
The most popular ToH map. Attention, diplomacy is allowed on this map! Final battle (if needed) - on sand (16,44,0) on the 4th day of the 4th week of the 2nd month.

8). Just Another Map (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 160%.
Native secondary towns are the same as the opponent's main Castle. Each player has a native secondary town below!
Final battle (if needed) - in the center under the library (36,33,0) on the 4th day of the 4th week of the 2nd month.

9). Kick Thy Neighbors Butt (www.toheroes.com). Difficulty 160%.
Using Hill Forts is allowed! Native secondary towns are the same as the opponent's main Castle.
Final battle (if needed) - on the swamp near the Dragon Utopia (36,39,0), on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

10). Lands of Magic (creator - Master of Lightnings). Difficulty 160%.
It is strongly recommended to view the map in the editor before playing. Attention, diplomacy is allowed on this map! All heroes are allowed! Final battle (if needed) - on snow (41,33,0), on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 2nd month.

11). Masters (Creator Cardinal) Difficulty 200%.
A "sophisticated" map, study it carefully in the editor! Conflux is banned. Now you can only start as blue or purple.Final battle (if needed) - on lava (39,55,0), on the 4th day of the 3rd week of the 3rd month.

12). Seven Lakes (Creator NWC, ported from HMM2) Difficulty 160%.
Final battle (if needed) - on rocks (52,58,0), on the 4th day of the 2nd week of the 3rd month.

13). The_Challenge (www.toheroes.com) Difficulty 200%.
Attention, diplomacy is allowed on this map! Using Hill Forts is allowed!
Final battle (if needed) - under the central Castle (39,35,0) on the 4th day of the 4th week of the 2nd month.

The map version has been updated to 3_10. Before the start of the tournament, don't forget to update to the latest version!

Pit for LM

6. Map selection is done in advance, at least one day before the game, by choosing from the list of maps. The blue player must choose a map from the two remaining. Depending on the number of proposed maps by the start of the tournament, this point will be clarified. Opponents eliminate maps until only one remains. A mandatory condition is that players must first eliminate maps they have already played in during this tournament. After eliminating maps, players should familiarize themselves with the rules of the game on the selected map.

7. Castle selection. Each player has the opportunity to choose which city they will play as in a given game, but with the condition that you can only play one race once during the tournament. Based on this, it is planned to hold 9 rounds, so each player will play all races.
It turns out that you need to study 13 maps to know which ones you don't like, so you can cross them off and remember which ones you've played, so you don't accidentally repeat them. Don't forget about the castles either. IMO - for me, this is long and complicated; "I don't want to deal with new features," as Armageddon said at the Moscow qualifier. The more the rules deviate from the ХВ rules, the more you need to delve into them. I think, we should take one map and hold a tournament on it.

Now, they give a full day for preparation, which is more than enough.
For example, Antal heard about it and was ready to play any map for money within half an hour of learning about it :D

So it turns out you need to study 13 maps to know which ones you don't like, to cross them out and remember which ones you've played to avoid accidentally repeating them. You also need to remember which castles you've played with. IMHO - for me it's long and difficult, "I can't be bothered to figure out new features," as Armagedda said at the Moscow qualifier. The more the rules deviate from the HeroesWorld rules, the more you need to delve into them. I believe we need to take one map and hold a tournament on it.
 The old "we play one template" has turned into "we want one map".

We are giving 15 days for preparation, which is more than enough to understand what to do on each map and decide on your preferred faction. We didn't plan to hold a tournament on one map out of nine rounds to play with all factions (as the main principle of the tournament states). :o If one day is not enough, there is nothing stopping you from agreeing with your opponent in advance. If someone doesn't know what to do on a map, it's not a shame to ask the mapmaker or an experienced offline player. Let's keep it simple, everyone. We're not playing for a cow; please address any irrelevant issues in other threads.

Dear! If you are not aware, this tournament appeared much earlier than the online rules on HeroesWorld. And this is stated in the first post. Remembering 8 castles, and consequently 8 maps, is not difficult at all. If you can't be bothered, no one is forcing you to play.

Hello everyone! In LoM, they actually encourage you to play :D I'll play. 275343665. We can agree on a convenient time. I won't be as slow as Zmey (he knows who I'm talking about)).
Also, EXPERT 285706866. Both prefer TE full, but we can also play SoD and TE light. By the way, there's nothing left on ToH except for 5 Heroes).

So, you need to study 13 maps to know which ones you don't like...
To play well, you need to look at the maps in advance. And also think about which castle is best to play with on which map. And to avoid repetition. And check if the chosen castle is not banned on the chosen map. And clarify the heroes. Also, read the rules for each map. This is specific to this tournament.

You need to cross out and remember which ones you've played, so you don't accidentally repeat them. And don't forget which castles you've played with.
I will try to keep track of the deadlines, castles, and maps, and I will update this information. So you won't have to strain your memory too much.

And also - pay attention! Conflux is now also in the game (where this castle is not banned on the map).

Playing time is from 16:00 to 24:00 Moscow time on weekdays, by prior arrangement at any time and on any day.
I can play TE-light, but I'm not ready for TE-full.
There will be no missed games.

Added after 10 hours and 51 minutes
On the Battle For Glory map, in the Dungeon, in the upper left corner, one Kentaur nest belongs to the red faction, and the second one has no owner, probably it should be purple.
And why are there 4 Flax in the center of the Dungeon?
