Posts from “Best map for Heroes of Might and Magic III” (2009).
If anyone is interested in playing and seeing my amateur creations, leave your email addresses)))
Send it here zelga@bk.ru - I'll share my impressions. However, I recommend participating in the contest and creating a new one (size M - it won't take much time).
What is the WoG editor?:smile32:
2. The map can be created in any editor (except WoG).
What is the WoG editor?:smile32:
It's a map editor for Heroes 3.5 (In the Wake of Gods). Good luck;)
Best regards, VDV_forever
Questions:
1. Should all string data on the map be in a specific language? (Can I write everything in English, or should it all be in Russian? Or at least the description in English?)
2. Which heroes' names should match their nicknames on HeroesWorld — the player's heroes, or can computer heroes also be used? Or all heroes according to the map specification?
3. Are the victory and defeat conditions on the map regulated?
Separate question 4. Is it possible to modify the map (replace def names via a hex editor so that they look like one object but are actually another, example map !Nl.h3m — only it's for WoG, but def replacement can also be done for SoD) or the game (add a modified table data file for HoMM along with the map, which the user will place in the Data folder for the duration of playing this map and then delete)?
I'll send my map soon once I finish drawing it... because I once abandoned it halfway, and now I've decided to show myself to the world...

Regarding question 1: it is preferable to write in Russian, but English is not prohibited either.
Regarding question 4: for the first part of the question, the answer is yes, it is possible; for the second part of the question, the answer is no, it is not recommended (unnecessary inconvenience for players).
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth...
To participate in the contest, you must familiarize yourself with the rules below:
5. Only 1 map is accepted from each participant.
One map from each player? Because my second one hasn't been posted yet =(
And has my map been reviewed? I haven't received a response from the administrator.

Well, I decided to participate. I'll create a good map and submit it for the jury's review.
I'll try to be more polite with my expressions, and I hope the readers of this thread will forgive me.
This map, I'm sorry, esteemed map author, although it's better to call it an RMG (Random Map Generator) creation, because he is the true author (I'm not making this accusation without reason, because old-school players, to which I belong, are very familiar with RMG's drawing methods), so, this map is only marginally suitable for a contest of this scale (even critically so, almost like a Fault), and the words "I'll create a good map" are inappropriate both in terms of the process and the result.
Therefore, I might receive some negative feedback from the contest organizers, which they will send to you. I ask the author to improve the map, mainly based on the points that can be found in the threads about map-making skills, in particular, regarding excessively open and closed spaces, and also based on the criteria for rejecting elements of RMG-style map creation, such as pre-set scrolls and Pandora boxes, banks, Hives, and prisons. And, of course, in my opinion, the main oversight is the possibility of playing as the "enemy" side, even in a team.
I believe I have the right to make such statements. My map, which I mentioned earlier, is undergoing final testing, and it was created completely from scratch, with dozens of iterations of the gameplay, dozens of revisions to the plot based on my own imagination, and hundreds of test runs of individual elements of the game. Special mention should be made of the complex work on those map elements that I asked the organizers about in a separate question.
By the end of this week, my map will be presented to the jury. And this will be a legitimate challenge to compete for the title of map creator, even if it's not a prize-winning title.
Thank you for organizing the contest and to all the participants. I apologize for the harsh words, but as I would say myself, "...because I was extremely upset."
I will accept appeals...
I bid you farewell, pure Hero of Map and Making, although, of course, my nickname doesn't stand for that...
