Posts from Heroes 3 issues under XP or Vista.

I've encountered an unclear problem.
I bought a new computer, installed XP, and copied all the Heroes games. Now, when I launch Heroes 3, the intro starts, the loading process begins, and then it crashes :(.

It seems to be crashing when it starts loading the Heroes sysinfo. Neither Armageddon's Blade nor The Shadow of Death will launch. All other Heroes games (1, 2, 4, 5) work perfectly.

I don't know what to do yet!

Maybe there are people who can give me some helpful advice?

Everything is working fine for me! But Heroes of Might and Magic IV won't launch, and compatibility mode doesn't help!

Only one "Shadow of Death" started working, and I have a licensed copy, but the disc is lost. And it won't run without the disc.

All the others still refuse to work, darn it! :(

The video has nothing to do with it. I tried compatibility with Windows 95. I think the problem is that the Heroes game is cracked, and the crack is designed to work with a CD drive. Windows XP is a relatively new system, and instead of a CD drive, there's a DVD drive connected in a special way, and it seems this old crack isn't designed to work with such drives, especially under Windows XP. :( I guess I'll have to buy a new copy of Heroes 3. (I was offered a 3-CD set for 300 rubles the other day. Something held me back, especially since I already have a lot of copies of Heroes on my computer.)

Here's what I did:

I created an image from the licensed disc using Nero 6, and I've even forgotten where the disc itself is now...;)
I load the COD image and enjoy it:)

Advice: Borrow a disc from a friend, create an image, and play without worries!;

Yesterday evening, I tried the "censored" version with heroes that wouldn't launch... I'll say right away, I wasn't satisfied! :) In short, even here, you can't do without a store! What kind of life is this? :). + a little off-topic I launch Heroes 2 - it doesn't work either, so I thought, "damn it..." But I quickly figured it out. These old programs, damn it... My sound card didn't work with it, but only for digital sound, while digital music was okay! I had to play without effects.

I don't understand what your problem is; I had a similar situation about two years ago. It was around the time Windows XP was first released. I think I solved the problem by simply reinstalling Windows (I did format the drive, though).

I thought it was a commonly used term in the computer (and not only) world :)
Usually, this is done with Windows, but I had to do it with Heroes here :-)

Reinstalling HP is not like deleting Win95-98! It's a complete... "censorship" :)

Actually, I need to reinstall the game itself, which is what I'll do after this :-) It's not very good without the installation.

I don't know, for me, reinstalling WINDOWS is like a daily routine... you wake up in the morning... type the usual command
A:\format disc C:..... you can say that the day has begun ;)
Just kidding! It doesn't happen often, but when it does, I think I solved the problem like this!
