Greetings everyone!
I decided to raise the question about the skills a Hero learns during the game! Firstly, I'd like to know who has what preferences for certain skills, and secondly, how can you control the learning process and learn what you need!?
Again, what I'm going to write in this thread is my opinion, and I might be wrong... Perhaps experienced players reading this will smile and think—what’s there to not understand, what to learn... So this topic is mostly dedicated to newcomers, but I'd like to get some interesting advice from experienced players!;)
Time and again after a battle, I check how the enemy hero was doing—what level they are and what they learned! Sometimes a person wastes effort on something they'll never need... and that's how they end up with an FB result.
Personally, my core skills are—Logistics, Offense, and Earth Magic—those are what I learn immediately and at the first opportunity... then I try to learn Defence, Wisdom... then whatever my heart desires.
If we take the 2SM4d(3) template—things usually get resolved quickly there, within a few weeks... During that time, a hero can learn differently, but somewhere around level (10-15) (depending on what's available at the respawn, maybe more)... so within those 10-15 levels, you need to try to learn everything necessary!!!
Personally, I always tried to learn something mass-oriented, something that would affect all your troops rather than just one monster... For example, playing as Hive—(IMHO) I always take Alkin—because he has, in my opinion, more advantages! For instance, Wystan—he's certainly a strong warrior + has piercing from the very start if you get shooters... but how necessary is the Archery skill for Hive?? There's only one shooter there, and not a high-level one at that... and you'd have to spend as many as 2 levels on Archery... + it's unknown how the game will go and how many shooters you'll have in your army by FB...
Tazar—an excellent warrior, and I would always take him if not for one BUT—when I start leveling him, he mostly gets junk—at level 2 they offer either Expert Armorer and Artillery (as sometimes happens when I take him), and at level 3 it's up to luck, they might give Ballistics (which, in my opinion, won't play any role when playing against an equal opponent...)
or they might give something good... it's all about luck and it's a matter of taste—whether to take him or not...
Alkin's advantages—Offense increases the damage of all creatures in the town + Defence is also needed... and as far as I've noticed, he doesn't really have problems with subsequent skills, they almost always give Earth, and if you're lucky, Logistics! + Gorgon specialty—which can be very helpful in FB, since with their special ability they can easily mow down level 7 monsters (these could be enemy Angels, for example, if you develop further...)
I also want to note another situation...—for example, playing as the same Alkin... when leveling up (let's say you're getting level 2), they offer you—Advanced Offense or Basic Wisdom, which would you take?? Personally, I would take Advanced Offense, because if there are no places on the map where you can learn something (Towns with magic up to level 5 or Pandora's Boxes that might contain good magic), then I think it won't be very useful... and if you take it, they'll keep offering it for leveling later... But if you take Advanced Offense—1st, you get a good bonus, and 2nd, there's a chance they'll offer something worthwhile from the other skills...
I think there's no need to talk about Logistics, since everyone understands that speed and tempo decide almost everything in the game!!!
For now, I think I've written everything I wanted, I'll be glad to learn something new, and I'd also like to know—which magic school do you prefer most?
Thanks everyone for your attention!!!:)
