But what if Agrael doesn't have good diplomacy skills? I tried, but the elves attack instead of joining. I lost all my dryads fighting neutrals. Or do they join more often with a hero?

Most-Most, but it's not about the patch. I was just "downloading" Faidean (in the original campaign) with a skill wheel for Haven (3.0), and there the path to achieving the Champion skill (CS) is changed (at least for Elves, possibly for all). With the 3rd skill wheel, it turned out that CS is possible, but it's not true (it doesn't work) :)

The tactic is relevant here because this ability immediately blocks the path to achieving the Elven CS for Faidean in versions 1.0 - 1.6 of the game. But there you will have Talanar, who will immediately have CS :)
Boris K, in principle, gave the answer to this question. Download the skill upgrade for the All Versions (AV) version (it also works for 1.6) and you will see everything yourself :)

I didn't download the standalone campaign for Faidaen in version 1.5 because I neither wanted to nor had the opportunity, and in version 3.0, I didn't because I didn't want to. In both versions, instead of playing as the light faction, I played as the chaos faction.

I also tried downloading the Chaos faction, but I never got it to work. As for Haven, even though its magic stat is so low, it's barely worth calling it magic.

In the second mission, Faidaen has the opportunity to acquire so many magic enhancements that by the end, with the help of a barrage of arrows and a ballista with an enchanted arrow, he casts chaos spells just as well as Railegh (or almost as well).

My hero only gained the spellcasting skill in the fourth mission. Here are his stats at the beginning of the fifth mission: 22, 26, 18, 27, although his level is only 29.

The box contains 3 discs, one with the original game and Hammers of Fate, and another with Tribes of the East. I installed it, and everything works fine. Now I'm going to play through all the Campaigns of the original version and the two expansions, and I want to max out the ultimate ability for each main hero, and if possible, for the secondary heroes as well (although that's unlikely). I know that the skill wheel in Tribes of the East has been changed compared to the original version of the game. In Tribes of the East, if you play in a single-player scenario, you can get the ultimate ability by level 23-25, not 31-33, as in the original version, which is, of course, great. Attention, questions: 1) I load the Tribes of the East disc, then load the Original (or Second) version. Will the skill wheel in Tribes of the East work in the Campaigns of the Original and Second Versions? Or, if I play through the Campaigns of the Original and Second Versions, will the old, terrible skill wheel be in effect, where even in the Campaigns (not to mention scenarios) getting the ultimate ability for the main hero is like flying to Mars? 2) Has anyone ever gotten the ultimate ability for the main hero while playing through the Campaigns (Original, Second, Third)?
