Please help!
Mission objectives:
1. Capture the castle. Done.
2. Defend the castle from attacks. Done; no one is attacking anymore, but the objective is not completed.
3. Prepare the garrison. Done.
4. Free two heroes. Freed them, but the objective is not completed.
I've explored the entire map and eliminated everyone!
What am I doing wrong? Please advise on how to complete the mission.
Or is there something wrong with the game? I'm getting frustrated!

There is an opinion that the map is buggy because the last hero should only be freed when the checkbox in the quest to prepare the garrison is checked (and since the garrison suffers losses, this doesn't always happen).

I didn't prepare a garrison and freed the last hero, then I gathered a garrison and the mission ended.

What's the catch? I have the same problem. I killed everyone, and what now? And the purple one keeps running towards me (to get beaten up). Well, it seems you need to complete the garrison creation task first, and then free the heroes.

I encountered the same problem. The solution was to buy another hero in the Necropolis castle. Apparently, the system monitors the change in the number of heroes and then compares the list of heroes with the quest.

I can't get out of the Castle, it's purple. There are constant raids. What's the best way to start this mission? Should I capture the Castle and leave half the army there to defend against attacks, while the main hero explores the map?

That's how I played through it. I captured the Castle, left 2/3 of the troops in the city and moved west along the river, then south, landed on the shore and requested Necropolis units from the Elven city. The main thing is to hold out for the first few weeks - then the 2nd hero levels up and defending becomes much easier.
And one more thing - try to build up the 1st city as quickly as possible and develop the Avenger skill for the hero in it; with 4 sworn enemies, defending becomes much easier. The Necropolis units of the east will also sail in there, but they can be intercepted by the main hero - if the 2nd city is built up properly and the army is no longer small. I wouldn't recommend taking troops out of the 1st city, at least for the first month.
And once you build up the 2nd city - you can move further along the path, toward the prison (in the southwest) and toward the Necropolis (in the southeast).

That's how I did it. I captured the castle, left 2/3 of my troops in the city, and moved west along the river.

I kept only the archers for myself, leaving the rest for defense.

You need to hold the defense until you complete two tasks: (1) gather an army in the city and (2) free two heroes.
The army must be stationed in the city. And you just need to free the heroes.

What a nightmare. Two quests have been completed (i.e., the checkboxes are already checked): the city has been recaptured, and the heroes have been freed (by the way, thank you, VshNshd, for the helpful advice). All three heroes have been maxed out, but the purple one is still running around. It's been almost a year. Should I start over? Could it have been affected by the fact that after the garrison was recruited, some troops were taken from the city?

Fayadan and the required army should be stationed in the capital. In version 1.2, I had no problems completing it.

Well, you need to complete the task of creating a garrison first, and then free the heroes.

This is the correct solution.
And also, pay closer attention to make sure that, in addition to the central hero and the 2 freed heroes, you don't have any other heroes.
If you bought any for other purposes, be sure to remove them. In other words, at the moment of freeing the 2nd "needed" hero, there should only be 2 heroes on the map (the central hero and 1 of the freed ones).
