I had a funny experience. Once, I started playing Heroes with a friend, and his cousin came over. She also started playing Heroes for the first time. So, we were playing, and she attacked some Fairy Dragons and saw them on the battlefield. She said, "They're so wonderful," and then one of them unleashed a chain lightning attack, and half of her army was gone. She just stared in disbelief and didn't play anymore.

I like snipers the most, probably. They are strong creatures. And if the hero also has well-developed archery skills, then it's even better!

the role of neutral creatures is extremely small if the mapmaker hasn't taken care in advance to actively use them in the map – encountering them as opponents is one thing, but having them in your own army is quite rare. usually, by the time you capture the dwellings of higher dragons (rusty, azure, fabulous, crystal), you already have a decent army, and besides the pleasure of having them in your ranks, there is practically no point in having two or three dragons. ;)
it's a pity, though – the Rusty Dragon is one of the most stylish, atmospheric, and simply beautiful units in Heroes III. And the Azure Dragon inspires respect with its very appearance.

Peasants can also be useful, especially with the right artifacts.
1) Transformation into thieves.
2) 15 gold at the beginning of the week.

I personally prefer the fantastical dragons because of their ability to continuously cast magic on enemies.

As for neutral creatures, I like Mummies and Golden Golems. I even saw a map online about them, something about Egypt...

Snipers are the best – they always have a direct attack and decent damage; if a troll fights a sniper, the sniper will win 100%. Wizards are also good, though. I'm not comparing them to dragons – that's a completely different level.

I like and fear snipers the most because of their high damage at a distance, so if they appear on the map, I wouldn't attack them without a suitable army.

Nomadic units are also annoying when they appear in large numbers. They have low defense, but high attack and decent speed... they are quite irritating.

of course, dragons are all good, especially in large numbers)) but let's get back to reality. on random maps, they appear rarely, so I prefer snipers and wizards. they are very powerful)) also, golems for defense and replace peasants with skeletons. I kill the rest of the neutrals. they don't really appeal to me.
P.S. I recently encountered 20+ crystal dragons, but they wouldn't join my army at all((( it was a pity, so I had to kill them :smile51:

I like the fantastical dragons, except for their appearance. And I like almost all the neutral creatures, even the hobbits. Except for the peasants, as they are useless. It's a pity that you can't build a more or less combat-ready army out of them. Once, I played a map with a friend, and near his castle there was a dwelling with snipers. He collected them; there were about forty of them. An enemy attacked, and the cyclops destroyed all the snipers with the very first shot; what a pointless death.
