In the first game, the opponent is quite intelligent, better than in the second.
And starting with the third game, he seems to play well.
In the second game, he spreads his army out.

It would be great if there was a marketplace, as it is sorely lacking.

Compared to the second game, it's more difficult, but at the same time easier: give the Warlock Armageddon, and all the dragons will be defeated.

Bought the complete collection of Heroes today, installed it – it’s a pretty fun game (tried the “Claws” tutorial a bit). I especially liked how, in some kind of crypt, ghosts were killing my peasants and increasing in number during the battle, depending on how many were killed:smile21: – and when they went from 20 to almost a hundred... In general, I haven’t had a more epic defeat in any of the Heroes games:D!

Only the logistics are a real pain (especially in the deserts)...

I suggest you discover a slightly different world of Heroes 1, a world where you can test your skills and compare your results with other players! This is the world of offline gaming!

Yeah, I'd love to, but I'm afraid that my skill level, or rather, the complete lack of it :D, would make my participation a complete embarrassment :smile35:. I haven't even figured out the basic principles of the game yet – for me, even the combat mode is much more complicated than in the third game. Besides, they say there are no markets and something is unclear about the economy as well: I understand that you can't build anything to increase profits, but where do you get the money from? If I took, for example, a Necropolis, or whatever it was, what would I get out of it? And I really didn't like the lack of hero skills – it feels a bit primitive, and overall, the game doesn't really grab me...

I played it, and I played it! And that was after I had already played parts 3-5:D There was a lot to laugh about; the enemies were so huge:D

Last played around the year 2000. I'd love to revisit it, but it seems they don't run on Windows XP. Although, I'm sure I wouldn't do very well in online play these days.

2Ergon: Version 1.1 from "Buki" runs perfectly on my Windows XP. I also haven't noticed any problems with the English version. Of course, you should run the Windows version.

They work on both XP and Vista.

I had an English version around 1996, which I copied onto 5.25 floppy disks, and later onto 3.5-inch disks. It wouldn't run under Windows 98, but it worked perfectly under Windows 95. I don't have a book. My friend found a copy of Heroes II that runs under Windows XP somewhere.
What do you mean by "Windows versions"? I guess it might involve setting options to emulate Windows 95, but I just want to be sure I understand correctly.
