What internet speed is required? Is it possible to play online using a mobile phone as a modem? :confused:

theoretically, it’s definitely possible. But I think that with dial-up, you can only realistically expect to play in duel mode. Look at the size of any map and imagine how long it would take to load at a speed of 32 kbps...

In Heroes 3, you can 100% play via mobile as a modem, but when creating maps of size L or XL, it kicks you out – the time limit is exceeded...

Duels are possible. I played through Hamachi, sometimes there were lags, but overall it was fine. But it's not suitable for mapmaking.

The download speed is too low... For example, when I download files, the speed never exceeds 5 KB... So, it's unlikely.

I think it also depends on the mobile carrier. I personally played both duels and maps on MTS through my mobile phone; I just set the graphics to the minimum and everything was fine!

I played through Tele2 with the highest settings on a large map via Uplay. It lagged a bit, but otherwise everything was fine. I think you can play under any circumstances, as long as you have enough money on your phone.

The game's system requirements state 128 kbps. With this speed, and in the absence of other connection or settings issues, the ping is so low that the gameplay quality is hardly distinguishable from single-player mode. It's quite possible to play even with 64 kbps; I've tried it, and it didn't cause any significant problems. In a duel, there are no issues at all. You can even play over a modem (around 20-32 kbps), but lag will be noticeable. However, if there are no other options, this speed will be sufficient.

Here, it's important to understand that "playing through a mobile phone" and "using a mobile phone as a modem" are different things. So, the answer to the first post is negative – only if it's a duel.

The speed is up to 5kb/s in duels, and if the internet connection has no delays, everything is great.
You can play on maps up to a large size, i.e., small and medium-sized maps. Large maps are also playable, but there will be lag, so you can only play 1v1 and not be the server.
