Posts from Tactics for the Swamp (Fortress).
In general, you can overwhelm any opponent on small maps in 2-3 weeks, or a maximum of a month. If it takes longer, you need to hide and find a second Castle to provide reinforcements for the Gorgons; otherwise, it won't work.
P.S. Regarding the equality of factions – they are all equal, 100%, but some are more equal than others; it just depends on the size of the map...
Well, I said it and I'll say it again: ALL castles are equal.
There are different situations and different maps, in which one or another faction gains an advantage, that's all! For example, if a map consists of 90% swamp, then of course only Fortress will rule there, and there can be no talk of equality!

You can't prove anything to anyone, all races in Heroes are equal, that's my opinion.
And those who say no either just don't know how to play them or they just don't like Fortress.

First of all, I wouldn't be so sure that the Swamp has low speed. They aren't slower than Rampart or Necropolis – two units that can reach the enemy from the very first turn, and that's a strength.
The lack of HP is easily compensated by excellent defense. Unfortunately, I don't know the formula for calculating it, but based on my experience, I can say that an extra +10 to the defense stat is a worthy compensation for the missing HP.
In my opinion, you shouldn't play defensively with the Swamp; you need to attack, and with everyone, because there isn't a single truly slow unit. And even better, the hero should have an Air or Water expert skill – for mass fast or mass prayer.
Secondly, a huge plus is the location – usually in the swamp. This greatly simplifies the task of defending the castles. A normal enemy will be the last to venture into the swamp, because if they enter without pathfinding and logistics, it will take weeks, or even months (!!!).
Are you kidding? You compared it to Rampart. Rampart has Pegasi, for example. And what about Dragons? Dragons are much faster than Hydras. And Centaurs? Rampart is in the top three fastest. And in defense, the Swamp's troops can sit and hold their ground; they have such high armor that they can stay in the castle walls for a very long time. The walls are more likely to collapse faster than any part of the army will die. They are more resilient due to their armor, although their defense won't save them from magic. They are more vulnerable to magic, because magic completely ignores armor, and the Swamp has relatively little health. Well, an Air or Earth expert skill would be good for everyone.
I completely agree with the rest.
It's a pity that hydras don't fly; they should be used instead of snakes, although the Castle is strong enough even without that.

Hey guys, could you add Gorgons to the 5th installment, even if just as neutral units? I'd really like a mod that replaces, for example, Druids with Gorgons – powerful Gorgons, ancient Gorgons?
I really want to see Gorgons return. They were great units.
Julyanna, of course, it's possible to do, but it will probably be more like something new, independent, and not changing the game's structure, rather than a replacement as you suggest (I'm using "you" because I noticed your signature :))...
P.S. In general, this kind of question should probably be asked in a different topic, something like "new ideas," etc.
